This was my third try to purchase a region free blu-ray player. First two were Sony's and I decided to try LG one this time. It would not play discs from other regions as the other two. I've returned other two, and just requested a replacement for this one. I hope the correct one will be sent to me this time. To be fair, I've recently ordered LG region free 3D player, and that one came in a perfect condition in a unopened box. The ones that did not work came in boxes that appeared to be opened and used. Perhaps, people are switching the items with less expensive U.S. only models when they return??? Will write a new review when the replacement arrives. ... show more

I bought the DVD, Fariuelli, from Amazon UK, and when I went to play it on my supposedly region-free DVD player it wanted me to enter a region security code. I had no idea what that was and I couldn't get the user's manual on the Internet. Since my player was at least 7 years old I decided to splurge and buy a new one that would play regular DVDs and Blu-Ray DVDs. I came across this player, which had good reviews, so I ordered it. Setup was a snap. The only thing I had to look up was how to select the region which you do before inserting the DVD. Within 5 minutes I was enjoying the show. My only gripe, and it is a minor one, is the remote which is really small. I guess most people would like that but my eyesight isn't great so I had to drag out my glasses to see what the tiny buttons did. I could barely make out the print. I'll probably need a magnifying glass, in a year, to see the options on the remote. But at least the user's manual is easy enough to read and I found out how to select the region in seconds. This time, I'm going to put a label on the player explaining how to select the region in case the documentation goes walking like it did with my old player. So my rating is technically 4.95 stars due to the little remote. Otherwise, it is a great little player that only takes up a little space (about 1' x 10") and does everything but brew the coffee. ... show more

I bought this player to replace a worn out LG player that had given us many years of excessive use, since we do not have cable, satellite or even internet TV, all our TV viewing is by dvd and blu ray, so we were impressed with the quality of LG disc players, but I opted for the region free player as there are disc titles not available in my region. The player itself has worked great for all dvd's and Blu Ray disc's until I got my set of dvd's from Great Britain and they do not play, I set out trying to find out why and tried to follow online instructions to set this player up to read these disc's but to no avail, the on screen menu is rather vague and any instructions I have used from my online research has failed to yield any positive results. I read all the literature on this player in its write up before I purchased it and was led to believe I may have to manually select the region for Blu Ray disc's but not standard DVD's so I am missing something here and thsi is not turning out to be the plug and play unit I was led to believe it was in regard to playing multi-regional disc's but for region 1 disc's it does great. ... show more

This is not a region free blu-Ray player. When I purchased the player, it played dvd discs from regions outside of the U.S.A, but when I purchased a B region blu-Ray disc I got a region error message. Now the player will not even play region A blu-Ray discs. I sent a message to LG and they said they do not make any blu-ray players that are region free. It seems like this is a scam where a company is making modifications to LG blu-Ray players to try to make them play discs from all regions, but it does not work for blu-Ray discs even though it is advertised as being able to, and it seems like LG has nothing to do with any region free players. I feel like I was scammed out of $150 and now I will have to buy another region free Blu-ray player and hope I do not get scammed again. Amazon should shut this down because it seems unethical. ... show more

1. I think the product is probably fine. It came with a Best Buy sticker on it (with the best buy store code and the like,and a note to ship it to someone besides me). The box had been opened and re-taped, probably twice. I was afraid that it was a repaired unit (maybe it is). 2.There was a 1 page start-up sheet showing the connections and battery installation, but no user guide. I am having difficulty using some of the streaming and features and USB movies... because of the lack of documentation and the 1 page says if you want more documentation download it from the web but only give the LG website and you have to sort through the LG website to get to the download URL. 3. Picture Quality is great and it seems to be a nice player so far (fingers crossed). ... show more

I was excited to get the all region dvd player until I went to set it up and there was no HDMI cord included! It is listed in the manuals, but now I will have to go buy one. Can't review how it performs as I can't even use it.
