I bought this for my five year old in a size 8, due to other reviews saying it runs small. Normally he wears the 5/6 size. Even in the 8, there's barely enough belt to tie it around his waist. That's not a problem, though, because he doesn't want to tie it. He adores his robe. Normally he doesn't like to wear anything but underwear around the house, now he wears underwear and his robe. Doesn't take it off hardly. Super soft, loves the hood. He plays Harry Potter in it. The reason I took a star off was because there's a two-inch hole where the sleeve should be sewn onto the body of the garment. It's an easy thing to fix but it shouldn't have to be fixed. It should have arrived whole. On the other hand, my 5-year-old doesn't want me to fix the hole, saying, "No! That's where Malfoy cursed me!" So it's all good. I have ordered 6 of these robes for our grandsons, ages 8, 6 and 6. The first time I ordered sizes 10, 8 and 8. They were the perfect size for these boys who are somewhat taller than average and of slim build. They loved them so much that they went home with them. Thus, I ordered a second set for them to grow into and keep at the grandparents home, sizes 12, 10 and 10. They are too big, but no matter, loved and worn just as much. Only comment I would make is that the brown color is maroon, not brown, as another customer commented. I have ordered two reds, one brown, one navy, one white and one green. Fit as expected. I bought a size bigger, as I wanted room for my kid to grow. Bought for average sized 12 yr old son, & I purchased the largest size. Fit great. Love that it’s hooded! Very soft material. Only complaint is how thin it is... it appeared more plush online, but it’s actually a pretty thin robe. Makes me wonder how durable it will be, as it doesn’t seem to be great quality. I was looking for a thick plush hooded robe for my son, for more warmth & coziness. Color is true to what it shows. Bought this robe for my 11 year old son for Christmas. He has always loved robes and it is nearly impossible to find them in the store (especially ones that don’t have a cartoon or some print on them) The robe arrive incredibly fast, it is very soft, and has a loose hood which I think is a nice feature. The belt is sewn on the back but has loops on the sides. The navy is a deep color. I bought the size for a 14 year old even though he is average size for an 11 year old so he could grow into it. I bought a size 14 for my 11 year old boy who is not a large build and in my opinion it fits just about right for a robe. It is also not extremely plush. It is fleece, but it is fairly thin in my opinion. He likes it and it seems to do the job. The self-tie belt I guess means that there is no buckle, you just tie it? It is a normal robe belt. So soft and very well made. The cuffs are sewn in place and the belt is also attached to the back of the robe. These features are perfect for kids! My grandsons love these robes!
