This lamp was very easy to assemble. The instructions advise to not mix the leg pieces as each leg's pieces are packed together and pre-cut for fit. From the lighting hardware to the lamp shade itself, set-up took me about 40 minutes because I was eating a hot pocket while setting up, pepperoni if anyone wanted to know. The lamp isn't your standard on/off toggle, but instead a step on button that you would place on the floor. I don't see why you couldn't place it on a table but you would have a wire running across. The floor placement has been very useful and not at all an issue. Placed a 100w bulb in it and it illuminates the entire living room, but not overbearing, might drop it to a 60 or 75w. This lamp worked perfectly in my living room and it didn't take long at all to put together. The light is kept in my living room which doesn't have much light within it so this lamp does have amazing brightness as it lights up the whole living room. I don't notice much of a dimming effect with it but it does have a white light option or a yellow tinted light option. It fits perfectly close to my couch and it isn't too bulky or too small. I've had the lamp for a few months now and it still continues to work amazing. Like I said prior, you can adjust the light with two different light color options. This is a nice lamp providing lots of light. But the lampshade is wide, so you need to allow room to place the legs away from the wall. Given that they are a bit light-weight, that raises concerns about stability, but so far I've had no problems.
