Disclaimer: I'm not a healthcare professional. I suffer from edema in my calves, ankles, and feet. I've found this well-built, comfortable platform ideal for my needs. (I purchased an additional washable cover at the same time.) There is one thing I haven't figured out yet to my satisfaction. Do I place the unit under a top sheet and blanket and allow them to drape over my toes, or do I crank up the heat a bit more in my bedroom and use no sheet and blanket? I can't make up my mind. These are personal-preference issues, however, that have nothing to do with the performance of the product. After I had posted my initial review, I realized that I had omitted a fact that some potential purchasers might well find off-putting: this product has a strong, unpleasant odor, as any foam object does. Sudden back problem called for a leg pillow. The prices at the medical supply stores were almost as painful. This pillow provided good basic relief at a reasonable price. It appears to be easy to clean. It was also here in 2 days.

It was a bit hard to get this onto the pillow. I was afraid I was going to bust the zipper. Once on it was ok. I haven't washed it yet because I'm afraid it will shrink and I won't be able to put it back on. I used this after my foot surgery to elevate my leg. The material pills very badly. I bought this wedge in mid-April to use as a support under my knee during pre- and post-op meniscectomy. My surgery is still two weeks away, but after seven weeks of use, I feel I can leave an informed review. The cushion arrives vacuum-packed and not ready for use. I waited TWO FULL DAYS for the wedge to expand, and it still wasn't all the way "puffed" before I used it for the first time. I put the narrow end well up under my thigh so that my knee lines up with the bend, my calf lies across the flat part, and my foot hangs off the flat end. While it does provide some support and extra elevation used in conjunction with my recliner, it isn't all it's advertised to be. The wedge is NOT 8" thick as stated in the description. (It looks like in one spot above the height is now given as 7.2", and I'd agree with that.) In addition, the foam gradually sinks down during use to about half its thickness. It also measures 21" wide and 24" long from the thinnest part of the incline to the thickest part of the flat end. I'm not sure what the "cooling gel memory foam" claim is all about. That thin light blue layer doesn't feel any different to me than the larger white foam to which it's poorly attached. I'm thankful both pieces are zipped inside a fitted fabric cover or they'd be quickly separated. That being said, I'd probably still buy this again. While the price seems a bit much for what this is, it HAS helped with my knee and leg pain. If you need a support for long periods of time, I'd suggest buying two of these and rotating them or looking for something firmer. ... show more
