If it's your first time buying a laser level, please do not worry when you see the laser part inside the level doesn't stand straight up! When I tried to see the crossed laser, the horizon line seemed like one side was higher than the other. I thought it was defective and proceeded to exchange it. I had never used the laser level before, so I wasn't sure the laser part that didn't stand straight was normal. By the way, when I proceeded to exchange, the next day, they sent me another one. So quick! Surprisingly, the second one was also the same in that the laser part wasn't straight up and I got confused. Of course, I Googled to look for an answer but couldn't find it. I finally asked someone if it was kind of expected the laser part not to be straight up. When he tried both turned on, they are totally overwrapping and show a beautiful crossed line. So that means it's not defective and our apartment floor isn't straight. Aww Additionally, stay turning on the laser level for a while and make sure the button on the top of the level stays green, not blinking. After the examination, he was actually interested in having it, so I decided to keep both. I can't wait to do my DIY project on the wall! ... show more

You definitely want to by a tripod camera stand with this laser - it makes it 100 times more usefule to set the height and aim the device. Be aware that the up-down level line is not guaranteed to be "level" on the wall - the laser has to be exactly 90 degrees offset from what you're trying to align - if it's not exactl 90 degrees offset - the up-down line will lean left or right depending on your offset. Once you get that straight - you're good to go with this thing. I've already used it on a stair project (lining bolts on risers) and to hang pictures. I've found it's best to use this to get your line - but use blue painters tape to mark the exact spots you're interested - that way you don't have to worry about your arm or your tool blanking the laser out. ... show more

I first bought the red level, but I read the green laser is easier to see in the daytime and that is True. The level works well I used it to cut posts I had outside that were mounted on a slab. Haven't finished the job but I think it's gonna work out well at dusk I can see the laser across the street at my neighbors so it goes really far. ... show more

Made a my little hanging project 10 times easier. Might not be the largest nor brightest laser, but get my job done. (Many people complained that the laser emitter is crooked/ off-center, and, the base of the laser emitter might look weird through the glass window. However it is how the unit was designed, when turned on, it is self-calibrated to be perfectly straight.) ... show more

Great little device. Self balancing is key. The red laser is hard to see unless in a relatively dark room. I bought these for an outdoor project and really could not use it unless it was dark outside. Apparently, the ones with a green laser are better for outdoors. Otherwise, this works as intended.

For indoor usage the laser is bright enough. Outdoors was hit or miss. Great cheap laser leveler for quick DIY projects. Self leveling is handy to have and accurate enough. However, it doesn't self level at any position. Can only self correct a small amount. Still have to kinda eye ball level first. It is also sensitive to motion. Just walking around my foot step vibration on hardwood floor can jiggle the laser. I've had other cheap laser level before which used multiple small watch batteries. These use AA which are easy to replace or buy rechargeable. They even included some in the packaging. ... show more
