    • Nice and sturdy pot but remove the valve cap before lighting your burner.
I bought this to replace my turkey frier that I've used for 40 years and frankly worn out. This one caught my attention because it was stainless and came with a spout that makes it easier to drain the oil back into the container once it cooled off. The spout comes with a metal cap on the end. That metal cap must be very soft metal because it melted and turned into liquid and dripped onto my concrete within minutes of the first use. No big deal, as soon as it dried, it was easy to pick up but be sure the valve is in the "closed" position before you pour anything into this pot because the cap on the drain will be gone on your first cook. ... show more

I bought this pot to replace another 30-quart pot that had seen its better days and most of the replacements I looked at didn't have the spigot on the side to drain the oil like this one has. That narrowed the selection down to this one. It works just like my old pot and that's all I wanted. I've only used it once to practice for today (Thanksgiving) and that was to fry a turkey breast. The pot worked just fine and the turkey breast was delicious. I've no worries about frying a whole turkey later today. The only negative things I have to say about this particular model is the fact that it didn't come with a cooking thermometer or a cooking basket. However, the older cooker that I have came with a basket and thermometer and they worked perfectly with this cooker. I also had to reuse the old lid from the old cooker because the lid on this one doesn't have a hole in the top for the thermometer to attach. ... show more

I love this thing as it makes Turkey Day clean up of frying oil a breeze. Amazon just had zero f’s given when shipping it. Came in the original packaging that was beat up and as soon as I pulled this guy out of the package… it’s damaged.

    • Not what I was hoping for...
It came with a few dents and the lid was dented. I am disappointed in the weight of it as well. I purchased a stainless stock pot of the same volume (with out a spigot) and was much heavier in construction. It may be good for boiling water.

I have been cooking turkeys for 30 years. Finally , I have a drain. Will make cleaning up so much easier. If you are going to deep fry turkeys gat a pot with a spigot.
