got this to go with my Black & Decker portable unit. it doesn't have a tight seal where the hose connects to the panel, so I do have to duct tape the seal every time I move the AC. The way that this thing is constructed it is not flush on either side so even with the weatherstripping you will need to use some thing else, I use duct tape, to level out the seal so that a window/sliding door can create a reasonable seal and still be able to open/close. ... show more

Works perfectly with my sliding glass door. Plenty of materials to cover the gap. I was concerned about that since my door is very tall, but I had just enough pieces. Buy extra foam to fill in gaps. Its thick and makes me feel secure.

We’ve had eight portable air conditioners. So, we are very familiar with the installation process. This time we wanted to use our sliding glass door instead of a window in the living room. This works for us with no problem. However, you can only have the air duct exit at the bottom of the door/adapter. Another words, you cannot have the air duct exit at the same level as the air conditioner hose. It would be more efficient if the vent did not have to go down to reach the exit hole at the bottom. The design and quality are much better than any we’ve ever had that were provided with the unit at the time of purchase, including the very expensive units. They only provide one extra bolt and wingnut, and that was barely enough because one of them was defective and another one was less than perfect but we were able to use it. The other thing you should consider is once you install. The stick on insulation strips, you would have to cut them to take it apart so it would be better to leave it put together when you’re not using it. Also sliding apart. The individual pieces was very difficult. Even my husband had a really hard time. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend the adapter kit and I think it’s a very good and fair price. ... show more

1. You need a hand drill. You might be able to do it with a screwdriver if you are persistent enough idk. I used the drill setting on my dewalt and still had to put a good amount of pressure on the screws to drive them in. 2. Make sure you have foil tape, duct tape, heat tape etc. you are going to have gaps. 3. The weather stripping provided is not great, pick up a roll or two from your nearest home department store. Do not rely on this stripping to stay in place on the exterior of your home. 4. This product is built for maximum compatibility and seems to rely on gravity to hold the plates in place with standard single hung windows. If you have sliding windows some strong, durable tape will make your life easier to secure the plates while installing. Installation was ok, it was a bit confusing connecting the plates. It seems like the way to go is the thicker plates that slot around the smaller and thinner plates are what you want covering the entire void space. So, two thick plates and one connecting plate is ideal. If you can’t do that due to window height, you will need to seal a thinner plate with weather strips and/or tape. There will be large gaps if you have a taller window. I sealed both outdoor and indoor sides on mine, ran out of the good weather stripping and had to use the included weather stripping on the interior. ... show more

I've had 3 different kits for sliding doors over the past few years and this is the best one yet. Very sturdy plastic, fits my my 5.9" hose, universal threading for attachment, shipped quickly in a compact box with all items efficiently packed. I'm glad I didn't let the reviews that mention drilling scare me away. You do NOT need to drill holes. The flat oval end of the bolt fits perfectly in the track slot when you insert the hardware correctly. I would repurchase this item and recommend it. ... show more

I can only use my portable A/C unit (Midea MPF14CR81-E / 14K BTU / 8400 BTU SACC ) with my sliding glass door. This kit did NOT accommodate 6" exhaust hose my unit came with but luckily my unit came with a smaller window kit. The pieces were interchangeable so I was able to substitute the panel with the opening that came with my unit. I had to drill a hole in it to fit the screws in but it worked out fine. The hardest part is getting trying to eliminate the gaps between the door frame and the door / door panels. My door doesn't hang perfectly straight and with so many panels there it doesn't really stay flat. I used a ton of foam tape and even that didn't work. I ended up using some of that clear silicone tape (that is used to hang pictures on walls with out adhesive or nails) to seal the gaps between the panels and the door and the panels and the jam. Seals strong and worked well. Putting the panels together wasn't too hard, just getting it installed took some time due to the gaps. Overall, it was worth the money to be able to run my A/C efficiently. The pieces are very sturdy and not flimsy. I am leaving it attached to my door and unsealing the jam part so I can open the door and go on my deck when necessary. The silicone tape is a little tricky to work but you can use hair dryer or heat tool to make it more pliable. ... show more
