Nespresso addict here who’s been drinking this stuff for a decade. The Illy Classico is a new non-Nespresso branded coffee that is similar to a traditional Illy espresso although far from. First, it’s simply too expensive at $1.30 per cap. This is regular Illy arabica that should be no more than $0.90 a cap (note that regular Nespresso varieties are $0.70 and the special limited editions such as Cafecifo de Cuba or Hawaii Kona are $1.25). Nespresso’s in-house capsules work better. The coffee is packs more dense and produces a longer shot time and richer crema. The flavor of the Illy is very good but again, overpriced. ... show more

I bought these, and the Lavazza, and the "Italian Roast" pods from Nespresso. The Illy are by far the best, but you pay for it!

Arrived with a crushed box and 2 unusable pods. More expensive than brand name Nespresso pods, but the flavor was less fresh and a bit too strong/bitter for me. We usually buy Nespresso pods in the 8-10 range, favorites include Cafe de Cuba, Ristretto, and Roma. Given the price and poor packaging for shipping, we won’t buy again. Have been happy with another non-Nespresso pod from Amazon though - the Cafe La Llave. Better price and flavor than the iIly. ... show more

    • Almost there...good capsules, value and taste. Top of the 2nd tier of choices.

CAPSULES. Aluminum capsules usually are more sturdy and fit better in machines. Much better than plastic capsules that many competitors use. Even though the packaging was a trayed sleeve (good choice), 50% had small dents. The dents were not bad. They all could be used in the machines, but some required a little body work before using. VALUE. They are at the top of the second tier of espresso capsules. Worth a try at $0.50 or less each but not more than that. If you are going to spend more than that, then go to the 1st tier (Nespres/SB/Pts). TASTE. A solid B. Certainly not in the A range but no complaints. Mild, true espresso flavor. Not bitter or sour. Fresh with good manufacture/expiration dates. They seemed to be packed to release espresso slower/less than competitors. Fine of espresso-sized cup but watery if you go much bigger. just got ten of these capsules, tried one in my Inissia ten minutes ago and I can still taste this fantastic coffee...For those few who complain that it's too expensive, try getting a better testing " doppio" or double espresso at Starbucks where it's three dollars for a lesser cup. This is better than what Nespresso makes, I finally found my coffee. ... show more

    • LoVE Illy, but a costly disappointment.
Flavor Name: Forte
By far my favorite bean, but each capsule completely jammed my Nespresso machine. They were the correct size for the right model. I resorted to poking holes with a sewing needle and still barely eked out half a capsule worth. An expensibe disappointment - and sad my favorite espresso won't work. I'll stick to using it traditionally, and I'm out a pretty penny. ... show more
