They can tuck it in their back pocket to use in between innings and they last for hours. I've give them to my husband to use when he has a sore neck, and it's a great relief for him. We are a warm weather family so when preparing for a cold trip we searched for things that might help us. We found the HotHands Warmers and were not sure, but gave it a try. These are now going to be a winter fixture for us. The hand warmers come in pairs that you open and shake to activate. The key to these warmers is the constant agitation creating the internal chemical reaction causing the heat. The had warmers are not large in size and easily fit in pockets, gloves or mittens and the material is not abrasive. The warmers come in pairs, one for each hand. Through regular intervals of shuffling or tumbling in the hand/s the warmers are activated and stay warm. Be warned, they can get VERY warm, but it is fully based on the amount of regular agitation. They are good for a number of hours and we have even placed them in a bag and reused them a second night. The only downfalls of the product is the regular need for agitation, the user needs to keeping agitating the bags to keep them warmed, and the size. But, on the other hand, they do not require batteries, are great in all weather and they do have larger warmers available. overall, we have found this product to be true to word and great in cold weather. ... show more

I buy a box of these every year. And I use them. I get cold very easily, so these pocket warmers go in sleeping bags, mittens, beds, socks, boots, you name it. Took half a box to Antarctica, sandwiched a pocket warmer between two layers of socks (use boots 1/2 size larger than normal) and I never had cold toes (and my toes start getting cold at 70 degrees Fahrenheit). I carry these in my coat pockets, my purse, my backpacks, my luggage, my car, everywhere. They'll last for hours and get uncomfortably hot against bare skin (seriously, keep one layer of fabric between you and the pocket warmer, a bandana or sock is fine). Best things ever!
