We live in Southern California. The ocean is cold here in spring and early summer. Got this for my 12 year old daughter. The sizing chart was accurate. Fit well. My daughter already used it on trips to Catalina and Newport Beach in early June. The only kid in the day camp to bring a wet suit. The only kid to play in the water all day. The other kids who were brave enough to go in complained immediately, didn't immerse themselves, and left the water early. My daughter swam and boogie boarded to her heart's content. She liked the color and style, even after having seen the famous brand names. Local sporting goods shops had only brand name wet suits in stock starting at double the cost of this one and going up to six times the price. For sure those brands are stylish and are made with better materials and workmanship, but this suit looked good on my child for a fraction of the price. She'll outgrow it in six months, so am glad we got this instead. I didn't measure, but I'm doubting that the material is actually 3mm. I use a Body Glove 5mm and in comparison this brand seems to skimp a bit on the material thickness (just a feeling, not a measurement) and quality, but it kept her warm. When she outgrows this one, will consider a larger size from the same brand. Maybe she can switch to Rip Curl, O'Neill or Body Glove, etc. when she stops growing, but for now, the brand names are too pricey for a rapidly growing child. ... show more

I purchased two different sizes of wetsuits as my son was tall and skinny. The smaller size was tighter and fits my son but the arms and legs were too short. The larger size was too wide in the body area, and the sleeves and legs were better but still a little short. The wetsuits in general seems to be a good quality. Just not a good fit for my son. However, Hevto has great customer service and reached out to me to see if they could get a size that was a better fit. But, I think it is the general design that isn't as good of a fit for my son. ... show more

This was purchased for my 8-year-old son, who weighs 55 pounds and is slender. He's a size 8, which fit him perfectly; in fact, my son has some wiggle room when swimming. I truly believe the material is of high quality and would recommend this stunning swimsuit.

Bottom line: Great value for what it is. If you're planning on spending a lot of time in the ocean or it's colder water, you need something more. This is a great value for the money; we live in Santa Barbara and my daughter's been using this all summer, multiple times a week, and it's held up. Now that it's October, even in Southern California it isn't keeping her warm enough (she has average temperature sensitivity, in line with most kids) -- this might be because she's in the ocean surfing for about an hour or so. Given how often we go, we've switched her over to an ONeill 4/3 hyperfreak which is $$ but w-a-r-m. So if you're kid's going to be surfing / otherwise in the water for a long time and often, or you live in a cold climate, you might want to pick another option. If this is to help keep them warm in a pool, or a warm climate, it'll hold up and do the job. ... show more

Took it for my daughter and ordered two sizes after reading some comments stating it runs small. Surprised to see that the regular size itself felt big for my daughter, may be it’s to do with her, she is very lean because it was good on her length, perfect instead. I guess it runs good on size no need to order one size more. On the quality it’s awesome. She wore it once to swimming pool and told she isn’t feeling cold at all, usually she complains all the time. Decent wetsuit for the price. The big surf brands are better but also tend to be much pricier. If your kid is going to be out surfing every day I’d invest in a higher quality chest zip but if the intent is just to keep them warm while they play/boogie board in cold water this should do the job. I wasn’t able to find a name brand suit in my sons size on sale so we settled for this one. The material feels soft and has some stretch, more then I expected for the price. The fit is ok, it’s not as snug as it should be however some kids like mine are just skinny and even the name brands aren’t snug. I saw some other reviews complaining of a chemical smell, we didn’t notice that with this one. We ordered the “hero” pattern. I can’t speak to the warmth yet as I bought this for upcoming winter season. I can update as the water cools down. I give it a 4/5 because I know what a high quality wetsuit is and this isn’t it, but it should serve it’s purpose without breaking the bank. ... show more
