I've bent quite a few of these. Haven't had this one long enough to be sure, but I think there is a pretty good chance it will be around for awhile. This is the first one I have had with a bend in the arm, it keeps my knuckles off the ground, and my gloves don't get dirty/muddy, so if I need another one of these I'll be looking for that. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. To be truthful, I have never used a weeder before. I have a good sized yard and when I need to pull out weeds, I just use the garden trowel to dig around and lever the weeds out. This does usually leave a decent sized hole in the ground. So off the bat, I liked the screwdriver like shaft which does not leave a larger hole in the ground. My yard is clay with rocks and I need something to be able to take weight when I start pushing and this inspires confidence with the thickness of the shaft. The handle is thick and comfortable to manipulate the instrument. Also, I did not realize that the shaft has been given a bend in the middle although I doubt that it can be used to provide leverage as it is far too high to be usable as a fulcrum. I tried this on BlackBerry and dandelion growing around my yard and I was able to pull out the weeds although in most cases, I ended up breaking the root at some depth wherever the soil was very dense or rocky (see video) The cause of this is obvious enough that the v shape at the tip is very shallow. I have seen pictures of weeders that have a large wide fork in the front but I severely suspect that those type of weeders will not work in my kind of rocky soil. When I did get some loose soil, this guy pulled the weed including the entire root - see pictures. I would say in terms of whether it will survive my use, I am confident it will. Will it do the job, yes, it will. For my soil I think this is the best a weeder can do. For looser soil without rocks, a fork like weeder with bigger tines might work better. • The Hermsche Hand Weeder is made from stainless steel. It has a slightly bent handle to make it easier to lever up the weed once the root is cut. I found that the width of the flattened tip is too narrow at 5/8” at the tip as shown in the photo. The one I have used for years is 7/8”. It may take several tries to cut the root of a weed, which is why I deducted one star. The quality of the tool is Good! • It has a 180-day WARRANTY, providing free replacements and a money-back guarantee. • Vine review products are sent to me without paying Amazon for it. Everything I get is reported as income to me, so I will have to pay income taxes on the list price. I pay for them, just not to Amazon. I may actually lose on the item. ... show more

Pros: - It works! As is shown in the photos, a dandelion was successfully removed from the yard, including a very long root. - Minimal to no damage to the surrounding lawn occurred during the removal of the pesky weed. - Overall length is good. - It is heavy duty, with the exception of the handle (see "Cons"). - Better than doing the job by hand alone!     • pretty good weeding tool
It works pretty well on small cracks. I am not sure if it is ergonomic much but it will do light weeding job with this one. If the weeds has long roots it's not enough to pull it out but for small weeds, it will get it out better than other garden tools.

    • A farily useful tool for weeds
Believe it or not I was really excited to get this. I just tried it tonight and it worked okay. It was better than nothing. I've been using a flat head screwdriver and this is a level up from that at least. It's a lot longer so that gives it more leverage. But it doesn't really seem to make weeding much easier. Especially when it comes to big clumps of grass that are really rooted into the ground. I really had to hack away at these clumps with this thing. I wish it had a sort of saw blade at the bottom or maybe a slitted piece with a knife in the middle were I could slide the roots or grass into it and it would cut it. Seems like it needs a jagged edge or a sort of sharper edge to help get those pesky weeds out. I don't want to make it a weapon but it just doesn't make weeding much easier. It is a nice tool to have in your arsenal of weeding tools but it wouldn't be my go-to for those really pesky ones. ... show more

This spring, our weeding tool broke and we were unable to find a new one at local stores. My wife has been using that broken short tool all season. She was finally able to toss that old broken down weed tool in the trash when this new one arrived. The handle is perfect size for the palm of her hand to grip it without slipping or twisting. The great part is I can use it as easily as she can. Very interchangeable for us. It is much longer than our old weeder, as you can see in our photo, and long enough to get hold of some of the deepest, toughest roots in the raised beds.Easily 3.5 inches longer than the old digger. The metal portion is thicker and sturdier than her old weeding tool also. One thing I noticed is the construction of the handle to the metal portion - very well attached. There is no play between the two sections and it appears to be one that will last a long time. We are looking forward to using it to dig plenty of difficult weeds. We can't find any negatives about this gardening weeder. ... show more

This tool is surprisingly effective at getting out many types of weeds, especially dandelions, crab grass, etc. The concept is simple: Poke this down in the ground along to weeds root, leverage it out and 'bam' - weed it out and gone. The end is hardened steel with points so it generally goes into the dirt pretty easily and the weed-puller won't bend easily because it's made of very rigid metal. The handle is durable and very comfortable in your hand. The only downside to this is you have to bend down to get to the weeds, but the plus side is that it's very quick and effective. If you're fighting the battle of the weeds you should give this a try. ... show more
