  • Great pump, instructions are lacking
My noisy 1.24hp Jandy pump finally burned out, replaced it with this maxflo VS. I upgraded my filter at the same time, so it took a weekend to do the install and electrical. The suction is powerful, it runs my Polaris Atlas XT great even on low speed setting which is virtually silent. I did a wall mount without the optional wall mount kit. Here are my tips for a successful install: 1. Apply ptfe lubricant on the union orings to prevent leaks 2. When doing a wall mount without the optional kit, take detailed notes/pictures of the wire connections BEFORE replacing the 6 inch wire between the pump and display and reinstalling the 4 wire connectors (I used cat5 wire and an inexpensive weatherproof box) 3. For some reason my pump came the dip switch set to 1 and 2 positions on.. ONLY the 1 position should be on, all others off if you want the display to work properly ... show more

  • Replaced a 23 year old pump
Great product so far. Went in and programmed easily. Has freeze protection but seemed like it is not properly calibrated and started running full speed about 10 degrees warmer than the setting. Ex. Temp was 50f and setting was 40f maybe. Just wish it had WiFi management builtin

  • Nice but a bit pricey!
This pump has a variable speed setting and it seems I have been saving money on electricity. Very happy with the volume of sound generating from the motor. Very happy with its performance. Price was 25% more than what my neighbor paid just a couple of years ago so not impressed there.

  • Motor burning out 16 months later
The media could not be loaded. I bought this to replace a single speed motor that was going bad. It was clearly very old and I was advised to buy a variable speed pump to cut down on costs and improve the overall health of my pool. The install of this Hayward pump was easy and pretty straightforward. I had set it to run my pool about 6 hours out of the day and it worked well for the first year and a half. Then suddenly it started making a very high pitched whining sound and upon investigation it appears the ball bearings are going bad. I have tried to look up a service center for this product using my zip code but nothing pulls up remotely close to me. I'm not exactly sure what to do and have reached out to the customer service. We shall see what they say but so far I have not heard anything. Considering this pump was around $1600, I would not recommend it knowing it has failed in less than 2 years. If it can't easily be repaired, I'm going to be highly disappointed. ... show more

  • Quiet, efficient pump
Replaced a 7 year old single speed pump with this variable speed pump. Installation was relatively simple, although I did have to replumb because the inlets and outlets didn’t match up. Even with new plumbing and some electrical rework, it only took a couple of hours to install. I configured the pump to be controlled by an external controller and it was easy enough to set up. In fact, it worked on the first try. The instructions on how to set the pump’s serial bus address could have been clearer, though. With the pump now up and running, I regret not installing a variable speed pump sooner. At max speed it’s much quieter than my old pump, but at 50-75% speed you can barely hear it running. It also reports its real-time electricity usage, so you can easily see the relationship between pump speed and electricity usage (it’s much more efficient from an energy perspective to run at lower speeds for longer, which is why VS pumps are the new norm). Overall, very pleased so far. The real test will be in a few years. I have a saltwater pool and it’s eventually rusted out previous pumps. ... show more

  • Download the User Manual
Very quiet operation, Have the ability to adjust the length of time of four different running speeds. Should be able to determine over time the best combination (time & speed) to maintain the performance of my old single speed pump while achieving lower operating cost. Recommend you visit Hayward's web page and download the user manual. It's a much better source on information than what was contained in the box. ... show more

  • Great pump, avoid buying from seller that delivers by USPS
Excellent pump - quiet, easy to install, flexible and easy to program. But - I purchased on Amazon with committed Prime delivery on a Friday by USPS. There was an almost comical series of delays, misrepresentations about tracking and shipping status and then when I finally gave up and requested a refund, USPS dumped it on my front steps. So - just look carefully and who the shipper is - USPS cannot provide accurate tracking info, they actually do not even know if they have your item nor when it can be delivered. (and they do all of that with surly indifference, of course.) ... show more

  • Works fine
My pool person recommended this pump. Less expensive on Amazon vs my local pool store.
