I ordered this leveling rake because I plan to lay a 4-foot wide paver walkway along one side of our house. It will be 60 feet long, built on a sand base, and will require a lot of leveling to get a professional-looking result, so this tool will come in very handy. It is heavy-duty and well-made. However, it’s quite heavy, so if you have a lot of leveling to do, plan on breaking it up into smaller areas. Your arms may get tired quickly lifting and lowering this heavy rake and dragging it back and forth. The handle is super-long (6’6”), which will allow you to reach across a wide area. The product came with no instructions, but the assembly steps were obvious and relatively easy. The handle consists of three sections that slip into one another, and a bolt holds each section together. Align the pair of holes in each section, slip a bolt through, and cap off with a nut that’s provided. The rake section, which measures 10 inches by 30 inches wide, attaches by sliding the handle prongs into the frame and securing it with the one long screw and a matching nut, provided. To make this tool sturdy, I suggest using your own ratchet wrench to tighten the nuts (see my photo comparing the small wrench provided and my ratchet wrench). The small wrenches provided don’t give you enough heft to really tighten the nuts. I tried, but the pressure required hurt my fingers, so I fetched a ratchet wrench from my shop. If you don’t tighten down the two nuts in the handle, each joint will be loose, and the tool will feel very flimsy. With my ratchet wrench and decent pressure, I was able to secure the joints properly, and the handle now feels like it’s one solid piece. Once I got the tool assembled, I tried it out on the area where I’ll be installing my paver walkway, and it works great for the task. If you have a lot of soil leveling that you need to do, this leveling rake is a must-have tool. It may tire your arm muscles, but it will save many hours of backbreaking work on your hands and knees with a screed board. ... show more

    • Good leveling rake.
After having a pool put in, I had to regrade a large section of my lawn and spread topsoil on top to re-seed. Unfortunately, I did not get this until I was more than three quarters of the way through with it. The handle isn't the sturdiest because it comes in a few section, but it is long and certainly sufficient for homeowner use. The head is a sturdy metal construction. It has just enough weight to do the job but not wear you out too quickly. It did a good job leveling the dirt out. I plan on using it to level out my front lawn next spring. I did have one issue. A lot of the time when I pulled it back towards me the head wanted to flip over. I do have it so it can swing back and forth easily. I might be able to tighten the screw so that the angle of the head is more locked in place. ... show more

They company should be ashamed of themselves. Not only did the middle piece of the handle not come crimped to fit into the other pieces, it was cut with a hacksaw and I almost cut myself taking it out. Look at the piece of metal hanging off.     • Works as it should
As a lawn leveling rake, this seems to work as intended. The item came well packaged with all required tools for assembly, and was very easy to assemble. A longer bolt holds the handle to the rake body, a total of 3 handle sections, with bolts and nuts to go thru the respective holes on each. While the description mentions an adjustable handle, this is not really referring to the length of the handle, which is plenty long. I have a lot of very small gravel in my driveway, and I was able to use this for leveling out the mounds and low areas that have formed due to kids playing in it as well as normal driving. Overall a good tool, although the handle sections do not fit very snugly together and there is some wobble/play where they join. While I don't know if this will cause them to fail prematurely, I've already considered replacing the three-piece handle with a DIY single-piece handle. ... show more
