Frequently asked questions

Choosing the right Gotrax G4 scooter depends on your primary use. Consider the range and top speed that suits your daily commute or riding adventures. Models vary with 25 to 45 miles range and 20 to 38 mph speed, powered by 500W to 650W motors. For longer distances, choose a model with a higher range and motor power. For city commuting, a lower range and speed might suffice.

Yes, the 10-inch or 11-inch pneumatic tires on the Gotrax G4 are designed to provide a smooth ride on various terrains. These air-filled tires cushion the ride over bumps and cracks in urban environments, making it suitable for both city commuting and rides on slightly rougher paths.

The Gotrax G4 electric scooter comes equipped with an electronic lock to enhance security. This feature allows you to secure the scooter with a code, providing peace of mind when leaving it unattended. Always ensure to park in a secure location and consider additional locks for extra safety.

To maintain the battery life of your Gotrax G4 scooter, avoid draining the battery completely before recharging. • Great so far (updated)
Pattern Name: Scooter Style: 45mile 500w 20mph
Update 24 August 2022 After using the scooter for over 200 miles now, I can say it really is as good as my first impression in terms of features and comfort. However, a few of points for potential buyers to be aware of, with the main one being NO STOCK on replacement inner tubes, so at least 3 weeks and waiting for new stock to come in to the GoTrax warehouse. This is a real problem for people like me that totally rely on their scooter for day to day use. Anyway, please note the following for more details on my actual discoveries. 1. Real distance carrying me at around 205lbs/94kg at 15.5mph is 20-25 miles. At the top speed of 20mph then 15-20 miles or even less dependent on terrain such as slopes and inclines. It does handle fairly steep inclines better than advertised. The stated distance of 45 miles gives no real context on the required parameters to achieve this, such as weight of rider and average speed terrain. 2. Punctures, especially rear drive wheel are a major pain to fix. GoTrax support has been pretty good though. They sent me links to videos on how to take off the wheel and tire to get to the inner tube. No bicycle or auto repair shops would touch it, so I had to learn to do it on my own. I bought all the tools I needed here on Amazon including ready glued patches that stick extremely well. However… after inflating the inner tube and placing it is water, I found at least 6 holes that needed patching. No idea how I got six punctures because I only ride on road and foot path surfaces that seem to be pretty clear of puncture causing items such as broken glass and nails. I patched all holes as per patch instructions but one of the holes is across the inner tube seam and it continues to leak air. I went on the GoTrax website to order a new inner tube ($25+tax and shipping), but no stock. I called support and someone answered almost immediately after the usual automated guidance system messages. The person answering was very friendly but after double checking on stock, he told me they are not sure when new inner tube stock is coming in. He said it could be this Friday or next Friday or even the Friday after. He said to just keep checking the website after each Friday. Not his fault but I told him this is a real problem for me and it would have affected my decision to purchase, had I known this beforehand when looking to buy any scooter. Since I now have a $900 piece of, currently useless, junk in my apartment, dismantled and causing a headache, I have to make some decisions as to what to do once the scooter is repaired and working again. Keep or sell? One other thing is the state of the inside of the tire where the inner tube fits against. It is full of knobbly bits of rubber protrusions, as if the inner surface was not cleaned up after manufacturing. I do not know if these caused the multiple punctures or if it was a defective inner tube, but just due to the amount of random punctures at a wide range of various positions, my gut instinct it telling me is was probably a combination of cheap inner tube quality and poor tire inner surface quality. So now I do have regrets. I should have looked at the availability of parts, the availability of local repair stores, and the complexity of repairing by myself. As they say, buyer be aware. I hope this update helps others make the right choice, while continue to state that the scooter is great apart from when something goes wrong. —————- First impressions are excellent. Easy to unpack and assemble. Robust. Great built-in cable combination lock and digital lock. Feels great to ride and very stable. Lights at night are incredibly bright. Zippy and great acceleration. Oh, and I really like the way it folds with the catch on the handle bar stem locking onto the bracket on the rear mudguard. Makes it easy to carry. I’ve only done about 40 miles so far and tried it at both gear levels. I mostly use it at the max 15.5mph level because it feels more comfortable in terms of speed. However, I needed to pickup a prescription from a pharmacy 4 miles away and we have a creek bicycle trail parallel to the main road, so I cranked it up to 20mph and the ride was pretty much flawless most the way in cruise mode. So far very happy and glad I did my research before selecting this particular make and model. Dislikes are (a) it’s heavier than I first imagined. Too heavy for my lightweight wife to carry folded. It’s OK for short lifts and carrying, that’s all. And (b) battery life is not going to give me 45 miles at the weight of 205lbs/93kgs. Not sure of full distance yet but testing it over an 8 mile stretch of trail at mostly 20mph saw the battery level indicator drop to about half. Later though, when I turned it back on, the battery level then showed a much higher level. Bottom line is that I am very happy with product and it has been extremely useful. No regrets so far. ... show more

  • Great scooter for the family and practice to use
Pattern Name: Scooter Style: 25mile 500w 20mph
This is my first Gotrax product and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. I bought this electric scooter for me and my husband, and we were fascinated. We use it to go to the gym and around the neighborhood. I am very impressed with its solid construction. It has large 10-inch wheels so that one can navigate all kinds of roads and one of its qualities is its safety feature. It digitally self-locking every time it turns off. It has a built-in physical wire lock with a combination lock. The battery is durable. I have traveled about 38 miles on a single charge, which is more than I need when I use it in DC. It has 2 speed and light settings on the front, which is very practical, I love this scooter, it's worth the price. ... show more

  • Great buy
Pattern Name: Scooter Style: 25mile 500w 20mph
Been using this for about a week, so far better than my previous scooter, ride is much smoother. I travel a lot in the city it proforms well in traffic and on uneven roads; I think its because of the good proformance wheels and breaking system. My travel speed is about 19 mph the motor did not struggle. It handles well on turns but maybe challenging on turns were thr road is wet. I use it mainly for my part time delivery job in the city, after 4 hours usage battery goes down to about 50% power, battery life is great. The small form charger makes it convenient to carry so I charge it on my break time. Thou it does take awhile to get full charge. When I took it out of the box it has some good weight to it, the frame feels solid with good welds. I recommend to have a wide space to unpackage it. I just have to attach the handle bars, it came already charged so it was ready to go and easy to use. It was bigger than I thought but it folds and fix in the trunk of my Camery. It's long enough for 2 people so it's a lot of fun to travel together. It's a bit more expensive than my previous scooter but it's much better in every way so I think it a good value for what I'm getting. ... show more

  • Do NOT buy the G4 GoTrax
Pattern Name: Scooter Style: 25mile 500w 20mph
We had the G4 for 5 months. It was used on a college campus. It was kept inside in a dorm room. The G4 was lightly used. Still looks new. One day it just stopped working. GoTrax makes you send emails. GoTrax does not have a warranty phone number. When you send an email, they respond back within 48 hours. The problem is that there is never a resolution. They just keep replying to emails. I would not recommend buying a GoTrax. We are out $400 and will have to buy from a different manufacturer. There is a phone number for customer support but they do not support warranty or service claims. They say that you must keep sending emails. They are very nasty on the phone when you tell them you do not want to keep sending emails. Do Not buy from GoTrax if you expect any customer service or warranty claim. Sorry GoTrax for the poor review, but your customer representative should have cared more about taking care of the customer. 3/6/24 at 8:42am: I just submitted another request to fix my daughters G4 to GoTrax because they did not reply back to my email after 48 hours. Do NOT buy the GoTrax G4 if you are expecting any service within the warranty period. 3/15/24, GoTrax never replied to the recent emails I sent regarding warranty. Amazon stepped in and gave me a full refund and let me return the scooter. I purchased a scooter from a different vendor. As a note: To be fare, the GoTrax G4 was a good scooter. The problem was it just stopped working. It was not used very often and wouldn't turn on after only 5 months. GoTrax just wouldn't return any of our emails or help us with any information. In closing, I would not recommend the G4 solely on the warranty problem we had. Thank you Amazon for your refund. You make it easy to shop with you. GoTrax sorry for the bad review, but a little customer service would have helped. ... show more

  • Great scooter, but had issues
Pattern Name: Scooter Style: 25mile 500w 20mph
The scooter was amazing. Fast, long battery, and all around great, but after less than 2 weeks of use the back wheel came out of place
