I was apprehensive about purchasing this espresso machine after reading such mixed reviews, but went ahead anyway and added the 3 year warranty to be on the safe side. While I've only owned this for about a month, I've been really happy with it. The quality seems great, the portafilter and tamper are heavy and feel substantial. The machine has performed flawlessly so far, and I've been able to create many delicious cappuccinos since I bought it. No issues with any of the components including the grinder which seems to have several complaints. I have cleaned it a couple of times, as it gets used several times daily at my office. I'll add an update if there are any issues, but so far I am really pleased with the machine. Fwiw this replaced a Calphalon machine that leaked the very first day I bought it, so it was returned. love our machine. tastes just like spending $6 a cup lol. only thing i can't figure out for my life is how to turn off the clean light indicator. I did follow all instructions in manual and light is still on. Anyone have any idas?

Purchased on sale for my son who just moved in to his new place, had no coffee maker, and was about to have surgery that would keep him housebound for a week or two. Arrived quickly (prime) and looked fine, but couldn't heat the water sufficiently to engage the brew function. Because the unit was shipped from Amazon but sold by a third party Amazon refused to replace it. They told us to ship it back and wait 14 or more days to receive the LARGE refund. SERIOUSLY unhappy, I purchased another unit (still on sale) and it was ALSO defective (same issue - water never heated enough to brew). So yeah - don't buy this unit, but maybe just as important, don't buy expensive items from 3rd party sellers even if fulfilled by Amazon if you don't want your funds held hostage for up to 3 weeks if you get a dud... ... show more

I have the same question as someone else did. I have cleaned as instructed and even let the cleaning solution sit longer and still the cleaning light comes on every time. It stops maybe 1 or 2 times after cleaning. What prompts the cleaning light to go off? Is it a cosmetic/electronic defect only? Does my machine really need cleaned AGAIN? Anyone else have this issue? I should contact the company but I don't have much hope of them giving me a solid answer. Also, my espresso boiler doesn't heat up well. I think? It used to (I never dtuck my finger under while extracting) but it's barely even warm one first extraction. It warms up a bit after a couple cycles but not enough to drink as a fresh hot espresso, even if using a warm/hot mug. Also, the pressure on 2 cup brew is not as high (just above pre-infusion mode) while it goes at least or over halfway in blue with one cup mode. It's not a pressure or amount of grind issue either. I used to be a barista. It seems to run longer and make more than 1 oz per shot from my past experience with commercial quality machines. Is that normal? Quality isn't as good as commercial grade but still espresso quality good. I use whole bean/fresh grind but for some reason have not had luck using the 'fresh grind' filters. It always comes out watery, I have nonidea why!!! I have to use the 'preground' ones with the tiny hole instead of the open filter holes. Kind of annoying, any tips?? Frother seems to be a little weak on first go (not sure if that's normal) but amps up and works great. It does not like thicker liquids like eggnog however, it should be watered down a bit with regular milk to avoid screaming before it calms down to smooth steaming. I wonder if I'm supposed to use a certain kind of water, if filtered water damages it? We have well water and a filtration system for drinking water. I normally use that but have also used water you can fill for 5 gallon water dispensers (also filtered but probably better) wondering if that'd be better. On good notes, I love it! I haven't purchased a coffee since ordering and can make it my own way. I now have a mini 'cafe' complete with syrups. The espresso does come out beautiful overrall, warm honey consistency- I just wish it was warmer, probably effects the quality I would think. The cup 'warmer' is useless. It's plastic on top and does not get warm enough, barely to use for such a purpose. I think I'll contact to see if any of my issues are concerning enough for a solution or replacement. I'm most concerned with the espresso heating issue if the boiler is going out or was an issue from the get go. I wouldn't be deterred from purchasing but to keep these things in mind, especially on first purchase to make sure all functions well in case a return or replacement is needed. It's definitely a price point better than Breville though I don't know of the quality in comparison. ... show more

This is a great espresso machine for the price of $500. The grinder is decent, 58mm group head is the most impressive as it is professional grade, steam wand is great as well, but does not steam at commerical level. Takes about 35sec to 2 min to steam milk, depending on texture, based on my 1 month use of it so far. This is a duel heating system so you can pull shots and steam milk simultaneously. However I believe the shots are not as well pulled and the steam wand looses some pressure when steaming this way. I am a barista that has my own coffee shop so I have better units I use for business. But overall this was worth it for me to get for high home use. I can whip out about 4 coffees on average every 5 minutes assuming I'm properly prepared. Which is fast enough for my house. This is similar in use to a Breville duel boiler system and a Breville Barista pro system. If you are thinking about getting any Breville line, consider this one first. Because for the price it is hard to justify going with Breville now. ... show more

I love this machine. The coffee it produces is coffee shop grade. It’s very easy to use. The instructions was a bit vague, but workable. I have used it every day since I received it with great success. I recommend an excellent quality fresh beans.

The grinder setting is challenging to get the right grind! Also Techsupport is horrible, emailed twice, no reply! Called them only to speak to someone who was more interested where I live then answering the questions I had! I simply asked how I can adjust the auto shut down time, because it shuts down just in a few minutes! ... show more
