It was easy to put together. I didn't read the instructions, so after I put it together, I had to pull it apart and wrap the cord down around the handle pipe to the detector. Since it's winter, it has been used twice. Both times I found something, a big old nail and some tin siding. There are distinct different tones for metal types, which I will have to learn to distinquish. The directions are pretty good, teaching how to set the different screens for different types of searches. ... show more

For this kind of money and gives you everything you need to get started. And it works pretty good. However I can’t get the sound to work right in the headset. I wish I had a better way of doing that but I don’t really have time to explore it either. Either way I’m happy with it I suppose. There were some great videos online to teach how to use it. I think it’s pretty lightweight to carry around. Now that we are using it. I have decided that I need to orange another pinpoint for the kids. This is a great way to have some family time and get up and moving. I have only assembled the unit. I have not yet used the unit. The assembly instruction could be clearer. The rubber washers used to mount the head to the shaft have three holes that must be aligned to three pins. This step was not clearly indicated and the pins were not easily detected.
