Description

The Q PLATINUM series features many new technological advancements. Incorporated into its design is a proprietary Heat Dissipation Chamber (HDC). The HDC expels excess heat from the turbine resulting in much cooler operating temperatures. Less heat translates to longer motor life for your turbine. Because the hot air is routed to the rear of the turbine and passes through 60 holes the process is silent. The Q4 PLATINUM turbine spray system is the quietest 4-stage HVLP turbine on the market. Using patented noise reduction in conjunction with its new PLATINUM features, noise levels have been reduced to less than 50 percent of standard HVLP turbines. All other specifications are identical to the Mini-Mite 4 model. Supplied with the new Fuji T-75G non-bleed spray gun with pattern control knob - the fan size is adjustable from small to large and everything in between (fully incremental). The benefit of non-bleed is that air only passes through the spray gun when the trigger is pulled resulting in less blowing around of shop dust and less paint buildup on the tip of the fluid nozzle. Obtain a professional finish with all known coatings. The spray gun included with this package is the Fuji T-75G with 600cc nylon cup. The standard air cap set is the general purpose 3 (1.3mm) for fine finishing with lacquers, enamels, polyurethanes, latex, water-based coatings and more. Easy to maintain. Perfect for professional or beginner. This is an industrial-rated machine at an unbeatable price. Heavy- duty metal case with gun holder. Portable and powerful. Complete system includes the Q4 PLATINUM quiet turbine, 25ft Hi-Flex hose, T-75G non-bleed spray gun with 600cc nylon cup, viscosity cup, cleaning brush, wrench and 24 page user manual. What’s new in the Q PLATINUM series? The Fuji Spray Heat Dissipation Chamber: Fuji Spray has designed a unique method of removing any heat build-up from the turbine case. Excess heat is channeled to a Heat Dissipation Chamber located at the rear of the case. This unit is for North American 120V plug only. For 220V capacity, please contact Fuji Spray directly. From the Manufacturer The Q4 GOLD Model Turbine Spray System with Gravity Gun is the quietest 4-stage HVLP turbine on the market. • It's definitely a sweet upgrade from the Semi Pro 2
I started with Fuji Semi Pro 2. With it I was able to get close to the finish I wanted with latex, but found it finicky to get the latex thinned enough and get a really nice coat. Didn't seem to have *quite* enough pressure to atomize with ease ease without more experimentation than I was prepared to do. Also, with the Semi Pro 2, noise level was really annoying. I worried about my neighbors being annoyed when using the Semi Pro 2 outdoors. I upgraded to Q4 to solve both those problems, and it did, very well. Is all the hype about the Q4/Q5 true? Everything people say overall online is true. It really is a sweet setup, particular with the extras I list below. It sprays latex nicely IMO. It's easy to use, Fuji support is great, Q4 does what everyone says it will do. --------------------------------------- Noise level: --------------------------------------- The noise level of the Q4 is tolerable indoors, especially compared to less-expensive Semi Pro 2 noise level, which was extremely jarring and unpleasant. The difference in noise level is profound. While the Q4 is not what one would call quiet, it's not really disturbing either. Q4 very noticeably softer and much more muted. --------------------------------------- Q4 system's T-Model spray gun (gravity feed) vs. Semi-Pro 2's M-Model spray gun: --------------------------------------- The T-model spray gun seems to have tighter tolerances on the parts than the M-model. It is more comfortable in the hand, feels a tad lighter, and knobs turn with more ease and precision. Has a more "pro" feel. --------------------------------------- Spraying latex / waterborne paints: --------------------------------------- With Q4, I am getting excellent results these paints. I'm listing the paint and mixture I'm using because it's hard to find those specifics online. You may be able to tweak this more to your liking, but I find it puts down a real nice coat on kitchen cabinets. - Behr Cabinet and Trim enamel - Behr Acrylic-Alkyd enable undercoater [i.e. primer] counterpart. I wanted to use the Behr waterborne (latex) enamel because that specific paint dries hard quickly, i.e. only 2 hours to recoat! Easy clean-up and virtually no VOCs. The paint has a low odor that clears fast. I'm getting gorgeous results. To get a nice spray coat on the cabinets with the Behr cabinet and trim, I'm using: - 1.8mm air cap. - About 4 oz of floetrol per qt - Thinning paint/floetrol mixture with thinning the mixture with water to a viscosity cup 43 sec runout. Extra costs: I spent 30% in addition to Q4 cost to make it a pleasure to use. Total out of pocket not at all unreasonable at all for a really nice piece of long-term shop equipment with such broad, and frequent and highly desirable utility. -------------------------------------------------------------- Extras I got that more useful/maintainable -------------------------------------------------------------- - 3M PPS 2.0 disposable material cup system (more about that below): --- 22/28 oz 16124 pressure cup https://www.amazon.com/16124-PPS-Type-Large-Pressure/dp/B000RI0GIG/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=3M+PPS+pressure+cup&qid=1628862298&sr=8-3 --- Metal spray gun adapter for Fuji to 3M PPS 2.0 system (it's how you attach 3M cups to spray gun) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PD7BS9Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 --- (50) 22oz replaceable cups (get whatever size you want. The pressure cup I got holds 22 & 28 oz) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0070FK92W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - Full set of air caps with carrying case. The labeled case seems essential to avoid misplacing cap parts. Since it's a long term investment and I never want to not have a cap I need, figure it's worth it. https://www.amazon.com/Fuji-5100-2-5100-4-Spray-Carrying/dp/B07895KP6L/ref=sr_1_18?dchild=1&keywords=fuji+t+model+air+caps&qid=1628862373&sr=8-18 - Spray gun cleaning kit (definitely need that) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0157ECVQ4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - Replacement pressure tubes and check valves... Eventually they may get clogged. Don't want your job botched if you need a working one fast. - 12 remote control on/off plug. This is another must have so you don't have to keep running back to the base unit crouching and looking for the on/off switch *every time* you want to turn it on/off. https://www.amazon.com/HBN-Wireless-Weatherproof-Grounded-Included/dp/B07WX2NBWR/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=Remote+control+on%2Foff+plug&qid=1628862457&sr=8-7 -------------------------- NOTES ABOUT 3M PPS 2.0 SYSTEM: Why is the 3M PPS 2.0 system *extremely* desirable? It a SUPER CONVENIENT upgrade. *Huge* time saver and hassle avoider. You put keep your paint in the little collapsable disposable cups. But they come with lids with caps that allow you to store them w/o paint drying up or waste from pouring to a new container and change them in or out at any time by simply rinsing out the gravity feed gun from the top under a running tap (very quick). With the PPS system can set the spray gun upside down and it stands firmly on the bottom of the pressure cup, so you don't need a separate stand. Then it's easy to pour the paint into disposable cup, do viscosity tests, mix in the solvent and extender right in the disposable cup that is supported in the clear plastic pressure cup. Also with this system can see how much paint is left at a glance. ... show more

  • Unbelievable control and very little overspray
I am a first time HVLP user (though I have a lot of experience with airless, brush and roll). After doing a ton of research, I finally decided I needed the Q4 or Q5 to have a good shot at latex (pun intended). The Q4 let me also buy extra needle sets and stay on budget. Well, ok, *closer* to budget, ha! In a word: wow. The gun is extremely intuitive, and within 15 minutes I had a very solid feel for what the two settings would do. As I progressed through a full bathroom of smooth shiplap walls, cabinets and cabinet fronts/doors, I got better and better. The control that this system gives is truly hard to believe until you experience it. With the air flow dialed all the way down and the fluid close to nothing, you can put out such a fine mist that you can't even feel it on your hand. On the other side, open things up and you can lay down a ton of material in a great smooth coat. I was shooting mostly Benjamin Moore Advance (which has a reputation for sagging easily) and with 10% dilution and 1.5 mm needle set, I got excellent results. The dried coatings are dead flat; I had a few sags on my very first coat, and since then have not had a single one. I am not a professional painter (though I did paint houses years ago), and I have to say that the results are as good as any professional I've ever hired for similar work. Like most things, prep is critical if you're aiming for that perfect finish, but if you have the patience for that, the Fuji will reward you with gorgeous, flat coats. The Fuji's value really made itself known when I made a mistake hanging mirrors. The mirrors in question are pivot style, so they have feet with three screws each. When I discovered I had to move them several inches, the feet had left dents in the paint and also screw holes of course. This was all on shiplap, which means trying to touch up paint with a brush or roller was simply out of the question. After I did the requisite filling and sanding, I masked off the two boards that were affected, with maybe 24" of masking above and below. I resprayed those two boards, and even I have a hard time finding the repairs. Also, the masking had barely any overspray on it, and the rest of the room had none, even with no masking at all. The precision and control are simply world-class. I definitely had some hesitation on the Fuji units due to price; that hesitation is now GONE. This setup is simply worth every penny and can't wait to work on more projects with it. It has taken painting from a drudgery to a pleasure, with excellent results. As add-ons, I would *highly* recommend the PPS 2.0 system--allows you to paint upside down and has disposable liners. The cleaning process is a lot easier with this add-on. Also, a remote control for the outlet you use is fantastic as well, letting you avoid trips to the turbine every time you want to turn it on or off (Fuji recommends that the turbine be 20 feet from where you're spraying). Hope this helps your decision, and I'm certain you won't be disappointed with the Q4 or Q5 platinum models! ... show more
