It is small and compact. It doesn't not however withstand to the better quality manufacturers like cm, Harrington, etc. For the price it seems fine, I've used it twice, pull out a fence post, and straighten a chevy chrome bumper out. I would say it isn't feasible for barbwire, I'd soon use my cable comealong. Definitely not for field fence, non climb etc ... show more

Have used this chain hoist multiple times now while repairing forklifts, will easily lift a drive / hydraulic pump motor or pull a carriage back to access slide blocks. Easy to use and operate, the only thing I noticed was that when switching to reverse and ratcheting a motor down the hoist would sporadically start slipping a couple of links. Verified it was not in neutral, thinking it may have been from the chain link not being properly lined up in the groove - this may have been from prying the motor up and dislodging the chain. That one minor issue aside, this has been invaluable in light duty repairs on forklifts, especially because of how small and maneuverable it is. ... show more

I ordered this to have something to help me out with my zero turn mower. I did not want to buy a whole mower lift but really needed something to make it easier to remove and sharpen the blades. I had been using my tractor's loader to lift up the front of the mower but it always felt sketchy. This thing is small but pretty mighty. My whole mower is probably only 700 pounds, so lifting up the front end is well within its limits. I run a loop of chain around the rafter in my workshop and can slide that around and hook this wherever I need it. I really do wish it had more thorough instructions, so I'm taking off a star for that. In principal it's easy to figure out but not everyone has experience with stuff like this and a written how-to would be useful. ... show more

Got one use and it worked flawless holding around 300 lbs. Atleast I got a rigging chain out of the deal. Should of known better by all the (good) reviews. Well back to Harrington and cm I guess$$$

While I won't likely use this hoist for anything that would test it's load capacity, it will be nice to have around the house/farm for heavy lifting assistance. The mechanisms all work well, and seem sturdy & dependable. The length of the chain seems to be more than enough for the smaller lifting jobs I need this for. The end hooks are good, solid and more than sturdy from what I can tell. I won't be pulling any engines, but lifting a mower to clean under the deck will be much, much easier now. ... show more

This is a compact chain hoist with good lifting power. It is strongly built but is better suited for occasional use. Using it is intuitive, but it does come with a set of instructions. The hooks are a useful size for attaching to the load and fixed mount. I obtained this hoist for occasional lifting in my garage. My garage has a 10 foot ceiling. With the hoist directly attached to a ceiling beam, I have to climb a ladder to winch up a load, which is awkward. I plan to get another chain fasten to the ceiling mount and to the hoist, so that the hoist can be reached more easily from the floor, since I do not plan on hoisting loads more than five feet off of the floor. This is a small, relatively light weight hoist. To get a sufficient mechanical advantage, the handle must be moved through a large arc to get a small amount of lift. So be prepared to do a lot of cranking if you need much hoisting. The handle can be rotated through a complete 360 degrees. For my occasional need to lift heavy items onto a work bench, this hoist is ideal. ... show more
