Does not hold and keeps slipping off. Not even close to getting the drum off the ground. We were all dumbfounded and came back to the reviews and sales page to see if we were using it wrong, which we were not. The geometry of the chain pulling does not allow for the contraption to clamp on to the drum. Unfortunately, we are outside our return window so I guess I'm stuck with this piece of crap. ... show more

    • So much faster to move our barrels!

We make essential oils that go into 33 and 55 gallon drums. We are constantly moving them, weighing them, shifting, loading and unloading all day. This is the fastest and easiest way to do that. It slides on/off the forks easily and just makes everything more efficient. The two chains are great, but the barrels sway and swing if you move/stop too quickly or once around. Sometimes, we need an additional person to steady the load. Three chains would be sturdier for sure. But, for the price, you can't beat this deal and we feel it's already paid for itself in labor alone. ... show more

Does anyone feed those heavy protein tubs to their cattle? I’ve been using this lifter just to lift these off the ground in my barn onto my pickup. My feed truck has a hydraulic hay bed. I can attach a chain from one arm to the other and hook this lifter to it and get the tubs on my truck. The tubs are approx 17 gallons and heavier than water per gallon. It’s a snap to get the tubs up now. I’ll find more uses for it the longer I have it. It’s made of good materials so I’ll have it around for years ... show more

How's that for an attention-grabbing headline. What other purpose might one have for giant chains designed to hold hundreds of pounds of cargo? The answer is: Freaks and weirdos who like to suspend each other from stuff. Unfortunately, I don't have any images that Amazon would approve of, so you'll just have to take my word for it, these hold a human body just as nicely as I'm sure they hold giant drums of whatever. Every piece of this is ridiculously thick and heavy and just screams "industrial use only" which can be great if you... I dunno... need to look intimidating for some reason. All in good fun of course. This item is certainly heavy duty enough that I would never question it's ability to hold a few people up to the ceiling. I don't know what it is they do up there, but I hear it hurts. Yet they always come back for more. People are weird. ... show more

    • First Lip Grab Barrel Hoist

We regularly use the strap-around-the-barrel type of barrel lifts and we love them. This is the first lip-grab barrel hoist we've used and I was a little skeptical at first. But I have to say.... it's far faster and it appears to have a very secure hold. I was thinking the holding power would be its shortcoming but after using this hoist a number of time for both standing and laid over barrels...... I am convinced. The one drawback we found was..... the forklift adapter only fits our smaller, standard forks and will not fit our large outdoor rough terrain forklift. We will continue to use this for a while and if I can find fault..... I will update this review. Meanwhile... I highly recommend the FITHOIST Updated Chain Drum Lifter. ... show more

    • Easy way to move drums!

After struggling to get drums moved with hand trucks or rolled into pallets to move, this tool is a great addition to my forklifts tool kit. It slides right into the fork and the set screw holds it there well. The clamps take a few uses to figure out how to set them best, they seem to like to be left just less than all the way down when applying the lifting force. They pull themselves down and get tight as soon as the chains take up the slack. Once they grab they have a very solid connection that holds the drums well even over rough ground outside. With some of my drums that don't have tops I made a simple spreader bar that goes between the chains just above the drums rim, so I can lift up open top drums full of machine shop chips and sawdust from the dust collector. ... show more

This is one of those items that just makes sense. We use 50-gallon steel drums to dump our ashes from the wood burning stove all winter. By Spring we have 2 full barrels to dispose of. I used to balance them on the edge of the tractor bucket to move them but that's not really the safe way and can get messy if it falls off and dumps the ashes. With this device, I simply had to snap each of the hooks onto opposite sides of the drum lip, throw the chain over the bucket hook, lift it and drive away. ... show more
