  • No more Chlorine showers, Great taste
Style: Carbon Block Filter CTO
These are easy to install, with some normal mechanical ability, which most men should have. Had to purchase 1 inch to 3/4 inch pex reducer to attach Pex Lines Directly to filter canisters, which seem to have no reduction in Flow whatsoever. The only issue is the amount of Teflon tape needed to install fittings, you need a lot .. with the extra Tape it seems to work well I installed the same system in my house 2 years ago with no leaks. This system with the Polyphasphate and Carbon Block filters is AWESOME. Absolutely no Chlorine smell or taste at all, plus no more itchy skin after the Chlorine showers. The Polyphasphate Filter actually reduces water hardness, we have extremely hard water. Don't like water softeners or all the salt Plus you can water plants inside and out with good clean water. You can drink from any faucet in the house To change filters is easy and use Food grade grease on the threads and especially on the "O" ring I put a metal bracket at angle to support Stainless mounting bracket, I have done that on all my installations. These Filters have been a GREAT value, and GREAT PRODUCT.. . Strongly recommend this product just me and wife and change Carbon Block and Polyphasphate filters every 10 months. Go by water usage it's in your water bill if in city These are a must have on any system ... show more

  • No more iron taste!
Style: Heavy Metal KDF
Short version: Great product, quick shipment, no more iron taste in my water. Buy it if you need it. Long and maybe painful version: Installed this while redoing a really messy well house at our retirement place. This summer we started to get rust stains and an iron taste. Did a test and found between 3 and 5 ppm iron. Installed this between the sediment filter and the softener. I did have to remove the filter bowl and reseat it, either they just hand tighten it or leave it loose for shipping. Snugging as delivered did not stop the leaking, removing and wiping the o ring and ring seating area made all water tight. Wish I'd know this before the system was pressurized and the filter was full of water :-) Once all installed, I flushed out the lines for a few minutes and took a shower. It seemed the iron level was less. After running all the faucets for a few minutes each and flushing all the toilets the iron taste was all but gone. Did a manual regen on the softener that night. The next morning we had nice clear water with no iron taste at all, and the water softener was back to working. I understand the iron causes problems for a softener. The filter arrived quickly and was well packed. I did reverse the mounting bracket and turn the pressure gauge in an additional half turn as I needed the inlet on the left. The installation instructions are fairly sparse. If you're fairly intelligent and have reasonable mechanical aptitude these things are simple to put in. If it took you three tries and two hours to put together an ikea book shelf you might need a plumber or to ask a handy friend to help. The input and output ports are one inch NPT, so you must have a large enough wrench for this size fitting. A 10 inch adjustable wrench won't open far enough. Just a fact about larger fittings, not anything related to this specific product. I'm happy, recommend this product. Be sure to have a sediment filter BEFORE this filter, no sense clogging up a $90 filter element with crud easily captured by a $5 filter element. ... show more

  • Easy to install! Great customer service!
Style: Heavy Metal KDF
Purchased this filter to remove the large amounts of iron water in a home that we just purchased. When it arrived, it had shipped with only a carbon filter and not the heavy metal filter it was supposed to. Contacted the seller on amazon and they they send a filter next day air to our house. Great customer service! As for the quality and build, it was easy to install with 1 inch inlets and outlets. I used pex that made the job very simple and easy. So far it has been working well and no other issues. Great product! ... show more

  • What to expect from anti-scale filters
Style: Anti Scale
There are three ways to deal with the calcium and/or magnesium in your water that forms scale deposits: 1) remove the ions completely with a RO/DI system, 2) exchange the calcium/magnesium for sodium or potassium (traditional salt-based water softener), or 3) prevent the ions from attaching to your plumbing and fixtures by treating the water with a TAC/NAC or polyphosphate filter. An RO/DI system is the only way to completely remove ions, but it is impractical for a whole-house setup, unless you are willing to install a huge tank to meet all of your household water demands. The traditional salt-based water softener has its own drawbacks, which you'll find documented extensively. With a TAC/NAC or polyphosphate filter, those calcium and magnesium ions are still there in the water, in the same concentrations, but their proclivity to clog up your plumbing, appliances and fixtures is greatly reduced as the ions tend to stay in solution. However, if water is left to stand on a horizontal surface where it won't run off (such as on your sink or in a glass) those ions will deposit on the surface when the water evaporates. You'll still get hard water deposits in that case. My solution to the problem of hard water is having one of these polyphosphate and sediment filters on the incoming water supply to protect appliances and plumbing plus an RO/DI system feeding a 32-gallon tank for washing cars and other things I don't want water spots on. I don't use RO for drinking as our well water is fine, but you could. This filter does a good job introducing the polyphosphate to the water. I’ve measured approximately 1 ppm of PO4- ions from it, which should be adequate to reduce scale formation. It’s a lot cheaper than a TAC/NAC system, but take a look at the Watts OneFlow+ if you want to consider that option. The nice thing about this Express Water filter is that it uses standard 4.5 X 20 inch cartridges, so you are not stuck with a single supplier. It’s also well made and includes a pressure gauge to warn you if the filter cartridge is clogged. ... show more
