    • Surprised how nice the scissors are

When I saw that the Easyderm Thin Hydrocolloid Large Wound Dressing included a small pair of scissors, I assumed they would be an almost throw-away type since there wouldn't be much cutting involved in some wound dressings. They actually cut very smoothly and are nicely sharper than I expected. They look like plastic in the listing and their case kinda reminds me of kid's scissors, but they are surprisingly well made and useful. I like their small size and safety case too. This is the kind of product that is great to keep on hand in case of emergencies. It is for burns, cuts, etc and I did not have any recent burns or cuts to use it on. But note the wound dressing is a single-use product that is not reusable. I wouldn't open it until you need it since it is sterile. It comes with 2 individual packs of 4 X 4 dressing.     • Don’t leave it on too long

This is a very pliable cover for superficial wounds. The colloid is sort of spongy in feel. A small pair of scissors is included to more easily cut the material to size. The diagrams suggested having a border of 1-2 cm whereas the English instructions suggest 1-2 inches. Perhaps because of my hairy skin, the covering would separate within a day on the edges. The border of 1-2 cm seems more appropriate. I could see that the material does absorb exudate from the wound. This is good in the first few days. The instructions suggest having it on for 3 days. As a doctor, that sounds like good advice. After 3 days, the surface was still moist. Scab formation does help protect the surface so that the skin underneath can finish healing. A persistently moist wound can increase the risk for infection. I do like the water repellent nature of the material once it is adhered to the skin. Love these hydrocolloid bandaids. I used them for an opened blister on my heel and was very happy that the flexible bandaid stayed on without issue. I cut it to size with the scissors that was provided. It did absorb some of the liquid that the blister weeped which would be useful for a number of wound types. This is a new addition in my first aid kit and something that would be valuable to have on a vacation that you plan to do a lot of walking. Putting it in your hiking bag is also recommended. I usually have good luck with Korean and other asian brands of skin care products. This is my first order of a wound care product under that umbrella, and I'm every bit as impressed. I really appreciate the thoughtful, included scissors that came in the package. I love hydrocolloid bandages. After a lot of hit or miss with the dots, I've been purchasing bandaid type bandages and cutting them for my use because they hold better and pull more gunk out than the patches. But even with those, you're limited in size options. I LOVE the size of this bandage because it's large enough for any and every need for me. I break out in large patches so I can cut this to fit the area I need. No more 20 dot style patches or overlapping smaller bandages to get the entire area. They hold really well and pull out a lot. I like these because of their large size. It allows me to cut them to any size, no matter how irregular. The hydrocolloid is great for leaving in place and can offer some abrasion resistance in a way that most other bandages do not.

Hydrocolloid bandages are one of the great things that have shown up in recent years. Particularly for blisters or burns, they really seem to help with the healing process. This particular offering is nice because of how it doesn't come shaped for any particular wound size or location -- you just cut it as needed. It cuts well, and it adheres well. Keeps the wound sealed and moisturized -- really, what else do you want from such a thing?
