  • Good product and would buy again
Size: 2 Gallon
I got my project idea from searches and watching videos, so I have never used this product before or any epoxy product before. product came with easy to follow directions I emailed the company asking a question about my project and received a response by next day I like how with this product you also get measuring cups (must have), mixing spoons (must have) and smoothing tools (nice to have, but didn't use). All these are needed tools, so it was nice to get everything with one purchase opposed to having to buy all separate. I did steal a spatula from kitchen and an old water pitcher. nobody has noticed that they are missing yet. I used one measuring cup for resin and the second for hardener and same with mixing spoons. once I filled measuring cups I dumped into my old watcher pitcher and used spatula to mix. I was a little nervous to use this as I've only watched other people online (all different products), but I finally decided to go for it and mixed my first batch. the directions said to mix for 3 minutes, but I think I mixed a little longer to make sure everything was mixed. when the mixture ran clear I felt it was good to go. I don't know if I did everything correctly, but my project turned out good. I made a coffee table that is 32'' X 42''. I poured first mixture in the middle and watched it spread out. I realized I was going to need a lot more, so I made a double batch and again I made sure everything was mixed extremely well. Once I felt it was mixed I started second pour where I could see the first pour ended. it definitely self levels. I watched to match sure it ran into the corners which it did, so I went to opposite corner and continued the second pour. for third pour I used a single batch again and again mixed well. I started third pour in the spots not covered. My goal was for the epoxy to be level with the wooden coffee table edges and they seemed to be. After mixing each of the three batches the mixture ran clean, but seemed to have a lot of air bubbles. Once I completed all 3 pours most of the air bubbles were gone, but there were several I could see, so I used a heat gun to get rid of them. Just to make sure I went over entire area. my project was very level which may be why I did not need to use the smoothing tools, and as I previously mentioned, the product really self levels. Is my project perfect? No. I missed a couple air bubbles, but you only see them if you are looking for them. Most people won't even notice. Is my project perfectly level between epoxy and wooden edges. No, but the difference is minimal and again most people won't even notice. bottom line...its a good product that was fun to see it come together and if I was going to do another project like this or recommend a product to someone else i would recommend this product. ... show more

  • Great for Beginners!
Size: 32 Ounces
As a preface, I'll say that I have absolutely no experience with resin, epoxy, or anything of the sort. I got the brilliant idea this year to make coasters for Christmas gifts for people. This seemed the simplest solution for a coaster material (within the bounds of what I was trying to make -- see picture). After reading reviews and researching, I ordered this set. The Good: - This kit comes with pretty much everything that you'll need for your resin-pouring adventure. The only "missing" item was rubber gloves, which I used to avoid too much of a mess. Everything else, this kit has. Included: 1 part resin (16 oz.), 1 part hardener (16 oz.), 2 mixing/measuring cups with mL measurements, 5 popsicle sticks for mixing, 1 yellow scraper/spatula. - I truly appreciated the "working time" before the resin fully set that allowed me to mix and get out several pours (I had a mold that made 3 coasters at a time) before the mixture started to really cure. - As mentioned somewhere on this Amazon listing, the mixture gave me about an hour to 90 minutes of work time before it really began setting in place, 24 hours before the coasters were solid enough to pop out of the mold, and I gave it 2-3 days before packing up and shipping them as gifts across the country. It may have been able to fly after those first 24 hours, but I didn't want to risk it. Things to Consider: - I hesitate to call this bad, but here goes: I wanted to be able to use the measuring cup again for future pours, so I made sure to wash it out in my kitchen sink after I had finished pouring the resin into the molds. It required A LOT of dish soap to cut through and really *wash* the cup clean of the resin residue. In my inexperience (because trust me, this will not happen again), I was washing the cup over a pot and lid that I had soaking in my sink, which led to resin splashing on the pot and lid -- I now have clear (but visible) resin splatter on the pot lid from where the resin was running out as I was washing it. Stupid on my part, but I know better now. - As you can see from my picture, I was making my coaster with floated Perler Beads in the "center." This ended up being waaaaay harder than I'd expected for a couple of reasons. 1) The Perler beads kept floating up to the top of the resin. I spent the first 90 minutes of cure time pushing them back down and centering them in the mold with a toothpick. In the end, they still floated to the top (as I gave up and went to bed after the first 90 minutes or so), but the bead openings remained flooded with resin, which will prevent liquid accumulation in them during use (which was my main concern). 2) Pushing the Perler beads down in the resin mixture resulted in a bit of a concave shape to the top of the coasters. This will work fine for the coasters and won't really affect putting a drink on them, but the edge was a bit sharp, and I ended up needing to file it down with sandpaper. - Between using a blowdryer and a toothpick, I was able to chase away the majority of the bubbles that formed in my molds from the pours. I was, unfortunately, creating more bubbles as I continued to push the Perler beads further down into the mold, but the blowdryer and the toothpick were able to get rid of most of them. (The listing for this item calls for a heat gun, but I didn't have one, so the blowdryer was my next best option.) All in all, this was an excellent purchase that ended up working very well for a beginner like myself. In the event that you're looking to get into resin casting, this is a great starter kit! ... show more

  • Excellent customer service. Happy with product.
Size: 64 Ounces
After posting my first review, which is included, Dr Crafty’s Customer Service reached out to me within days and gave me a full refund. I have decided to try using their product again, due to all of the positive reviews AND the swift response I received from Dr Craftys Customer Service team. I have to say their product lives up to their reputation and all of the rave reviews! It’s crystal clear with no bubbles or weirdness, and dried rock hard in about 20 hours. I am so glad that I tried Mr Crafty again! The following was my original review: I was very excited to finally use this product, as I had read all of the glowing reviews about Dr Crafty Epoxy Resin. With projects ready and workspace cleared I opened up the box for the first time. Its a great kit! Love the gloves, measuring cups and the stir spatula is probably the bomb. However I wont know, because when i opened the completely sealed Resin Bottle ‘A’ it was Rock Hard. Solid, hard resin top to bottom! Absolutely useless. The Amazon return date has passed, and I cannot find a customer service contact anywhere. There is a highlighted “find your warranty here” link to click on above that goes nowhere. So I have effectively purchased 64 OZ of nothing. I am incredibly disappointed. There is quite a bit of chatter in the descriptions claiming how this company is here for you if you have any questions, yadda yadda. However if Dr Crafty actually means this, then there should be a way to contact them. Anyways, I am disappointed and sad. I had hoped that this product would live up to its reviews. I’ll never know now. ... show more
