How to make sure the gas lift cylinder fits your office chair? Check the outer and inner diameter of your broken gas lift cylinder. This replacement part fits the one with an outer diameter of 2" and inner diameter of 1.1". How to install the gas lift cylinder on your own? 1. Tip the chair onto its side. 2. Use the rubber mallet to tap and remove the base of the chair away from the seat. 3. Use the pipe wrench to clamp tightly onto the top of the cylinder. Twist and then pull up in order to remove the cylinder. 4. Remove the orange cap of the new cylinder. Insert the bottom of the cylinder into the center of the chair base. 5. Carefully lift both the chair base and the chair cylinder into the chair mechanism. The parts will then fasten on their own. Updated review: I ordered a replacement from another brand. Upon installation, I noticed the exact same issue: When sitting down, the seat would slowly drop. It occurred to me that the button on the top of the cylinder that activates the height adjustment was ever so slightly depressed. The cylinder had gone into a Herman Miller Classic Aeron chair, which is cable driven and has a lever that activates the push button on the cylinder. The lever has an adjustment screw which needed to be backed out slightly. Once I adjusted the screw in combination with the new cylinder, it worked perfectly. Apologies for blaming this on the product. I'm sure if I had adjusted this screw properly, this cylinder would have worked just fine as well. Original review: Noticed today, 52 days after I purchased it, that the chair no longer stays at the set height when sitting down. I bought this for two reasons: the extra-long height, and the additional weight capacity. I'm 6'5" and 300lbs, so I need both to sit without hip and knee joint pain. I expected the 450lb capacity would be plenty, but here I am, sitting low once again, with knee and hip pain. Can't return since it's past the 30 day return window. I feel scammed. ... show more

Take a look at this product, it is well worth the purchase. For a taller chair seat, this does the job. It was a better and more sturdy lift-tube than my old one. It put my feet, knees and hips in a more neutral position for better comfort. Less cramped = more Comfort. A word though: it is an easy install once the old one is removed.     • It managed 2 brutal years of use
I work from home and also tend to hibernate in my office in my spare time. This thing got 12+ hours of use on average, nearly daily for the last 26 months. Overall, it was great, but there was a minor drawback when it started making some squeaking sounds for several months after about 6 months of use. Luckily that did stop with time, but now the unit automatically raises itself every time you stand up. Luckily, it still holds the height correctly, but it requires you to lower the seat every time you sit down. I used it at about 75% of it's max height for the entire life of the unit. I probably won't buy it again due to the potential squeaking sound, but generally speaking, this thing held up well to the daily use and abuse. ... show more

No dislikes, but I do have to admit: I was very surprised as to how tall this made my chair sit. I didn't think that this unit would raise my gaming chair as much as it did. The lowest setting just barely allows me to get my legs underneath my computer desk. But at the highest setting, the seat is actually higher than my desk. It's actually quite amusing. Fortunately I have 2 chairs, so now the chair with the new unit is my new movie chair and the other is my computer desk chair. Wouldn't change it though if I could go back in time. ... show more

    • Didn't even last year!
UPDATE: zero response from the company and its been a week. changing to 1 star Got this for my drafting chair in my shop at the start of this year. I weigh 150lbs and only used the chair a few times a week and its already failed. It will only keep my chair elevated if i sit on the very edge. I have reached out to the seller but no response on any kind of warranty situation. what a waste of money AND I got this one after another brand didn't work out of the box. It works great and it’s in an inexpensive alternative to buying a new chair. There are all sorts of online videos with steps on how to replace the old pump, and I tried all the little tricks to get that broken pump out of the old chair and it just wouldn’t budge. So in my case I actually had to spend a little bit more to buy the part that the pump inserts into and attaches to the bottom of the chair. But even with that extra cost, the total was maybe 80 bucks and I got to keep my $400 leather office chair. Once I was able to get everything together and working, the pump itself works great and I’m very pleased! I would definitely buy again and definitely recommend! ... show more
