    • First shock collar so no experience just impressions based on expectations

I started with the short prongs on my short hair dog and got the first week voice commands combined with the beep or the vibration were all that was needed. Eventually though something exciting enough (bicyclist startled a cat that shot in front of us) caused her to ignore both the beep and vibration so I attempted to shock her. But she didn't react. So when I got home I retested it and the light was indication that the shock function worked so I switched to the longer prongs and re-adjusted the tightness. Another few days went by and I needed to shock her again but to no avail. The first 4 tries anyways. At the 5th attempt even she just wouldn't back away from the barking stray dog a shock did happen that caused her to cower and whimper and drop to the ground for a brief moment before lunging back up at the other dog. That was at 20 strength. So far about 1 in 5 attempts seem to be what hits her even though 100% of tests show it works. I'm worried that with the inconsistencies it'll make training more difficult but I have since decided to just switch back to the short prongs and only use vibration and beep combined with verbal commands to control her behavior. So far my wife and I have both noticed marked improvement which actually feeds into the rest of our 4 dog pack a level of calmness that we haven't experienced in over a year since getting her as a puppy. I dislike the delay between when I press the button and when the collar responds so I have to be fairly proactive in gauging when I'll need to do it before I actually need to correct her. But it also forces me to be extra tuned into my dogs body language which brings it's own benefits. I guess will all the hype around shock collars I expected more from this. But with proper training and effort on my part it's extremely effective despite not being nearly as good as I thought it would be ... show more

I bought this for training my shepherd/Husky puppy and it works really well considering it runs off of AAA batteries and the price. My only complaint is the tabs that hold the collar on broke off. However I was able to make it work with my puppies existing collar.

My dog is constantly barking for long periods of time. I was getting so tired of it and I wouldn’t get a shock collar because I felt bad. I finally gave in because it was either her barking being controlled or rehoming her. So far I only use the vibrate and beep option on the remote and it’s done an amazing job. By far the best collar I’ve ever used. I had one before that just went based off if my dog barked but I like being able to control this 10000%. I dont even need to use the shock because just he combination of the sound and vibration is enough to stop my dog. I use the slight shock for when he’s biting too hard but the thing is it also isn’t like a typical shock collar, it’s more of those fake gum toys we had growing up that give your fingers or hands a tingle when you pull it and it feels super weird but it doesn’t necessarily hurt? Thats exactly what the shock is and again I BARELY have to use it. The battery life is amazing and honestly I prefer just changing a battery as opposed to charging it cause it’s quick and easy and lasts a month or more with me. Would recommend ! ... show more

This works great. The manual says not to leave it on your dog for more than 12 hours at a time, so I leave it off during the day and put it on in the evening when the dog seems to cause the most trouble. The only issue I’ve had is that the collar spontaneously turns itself on several times a day while just resting on the kitchen counter. I worry that this will reduce battery life. ... show more
