To start I’d like to say I am a veteran videography and photographer. I’ve used large gimbals with full frame camera and small Gimbals line this. I think a lot of the bad reviews are from user error and lack of knowledge. I suggest reading the instructions and watch some tutorial videos to learn when you get new gear. There is most likely a simple fix or oversight your not seeing. Regarding this gimbal I have both the OM4 and OM5. I got the 5 because of the extension rod and I really like for low shots after a few days of use. I will agree with others that both the OM4 and OM5 stress to carry the weight of the iPhone 12 and 13 pro max. I use tested the 11 and 12 pro and had no issues. The max I would get some vibration which is disappointing. Please realize the just little weight difference is a big deal on this little gimbal. Remove your case and any attachments on your phone. Less weight the gimbal has to work with the better. Also make sure to balance the phone on the gimbal before turning it on. Hold the motor that goes up and down and then balance the phone so it does not drop to the left or right and stays level on its own. That the only adjustment you can make on this simple gimbal and it’s very important. I believe a lot of people complaining of vibration are not doing this. It’s really easy to want just put on the back plate and stick it to the gimbal and power on but balancing is important step. I blame dji marketing a little as the promo vid shows someone just slapping it on randomly to the phone and sticking to gimbal. You can do this one you balance it once and then remember where to place the mount on your phone each time but the first time make sure to figure out where that spot is and you will prevent a lot of head ache. Another point to bring up is to learn the modes and buttons. Figuring out the features and limits of each mode will help a lot. These gimbals are turn key and can get great content right out of the box but the difference between good and great content is practicing a little bit and getting to know your gimbal. Little things like proper settings, smooth body movement and shot planning can really help. Have patience and learn the tool. I rarely leave reviews but wanted give my two cents on this one as I’m quite experienced with gimbals and think some users are giving bad reviews that aren’t accurate because of lack of knowledge and experience and may turn off some buyers that could really benefit from this awesome product. It’s amazing that this product is under $200 and paired with a new iPhone 13 pro it can create the quality of content that would have taken 10k + of equipment to produce 10 years ago. Amazing what we have access to these days. In one small backpack I have this gimbal, a mavic air 2 and misc filters and I shoot amazing pro quality content. Dji has made that all possible. I’m not affiliate or paid by them. I just really appreciate their gear and think they do in excellent job. I’ll try to find the time to do a tutorial on it and show some of my work in the future. I have used different stabilization gear for photo and video over the years. This is the 3rd gimbal I have owned for a phone. Love how compact and versatile this gimbal is. Struggles a little to stabilize the iPhone 13 ProMax because of the size/weight. Tried my gf’s iPhone 13 Pro and it was better. Doesn’t work well if you’re just using the iPhone camera app. And the DJI app doesn’t let you shoot in cinematic mode which is a let down. Still a great buy and the battery is awesome. ... show more

    • Coming from an Osmo mobile 2 - this took some getting used to

I understand they wanted to make this more foldable - but I found that coming from an Osmo Mobile 2 (OM2 from this point on) took quite a bit of re-learning how to hold it. The OM2 was able to rotate on its vertical axis to where you could hold it down to the ground and it was able to fully rotate to remain level. The OM5 requires you to hold it vertical- the rotate the arm sideways in order to allow the ground shots. If you push it too hard past the limit (which is pretty easy) the gimbal will violently try to center itself before going limp and requiring you to recenter it again. The OM2 didn't have this problem as I could easily and naturally hold the gimbal low and then back up while keeping my arm in the same position. I also found the DJI Mimo app confusing to use as compared to the OM2's "DJI Go" version. I dont know why DJI has to release separate apps for their OM gimbals. The functionality and easyeof use of the former app was superior. The Mimo app is clunky and difficult to access some of the features (like the 3x3 shots...etc) I find myself having to squint at the small white icons and have almost given up using it completely. I prefer using the standard camera built into the phone for simplicity. The OM5 has the finger trigger to lock the gimbal from auto rotating with wrist twisting - this is helpful. However, the OM2 double tap to disable was much easier to use. I find the wrist rotation of the gimbal on the OM5 to be jerky at best, especially when rotating the gimbal to the side for lower shots. The gimbal finger controls and wrist movement now change the axis based on the direction it is being held. Good, yes, but awkward and requires learning with a little frustration. In the end- the OM5 size is great! I just miss the simplicity of the older versions even though they were physically larger. I think a lot of these issues can be fixed with updates or maybe somebody with more patience. Coming from the OM2, this requires more "training" than I expected. ... show more

If your on the fence don't listen to the Haters DJI continues to Amaze me this OM5 added to my DJI collection worked Flawless right out of the box. Using Google Pixel 4XL 258GB Latest and greatest Android OS..Yes the DJI Mimo App is not available in Google Play store. all you do is go to DJI main page downloaded Mimo App. I even down loaded it before the OM5 Gimbal arrived. Contrary to many reviews All...I say ALL of the Features in the Mimo App are functional and easy to learn...if I was to be nitpicking there is no 60fps in 4k, no manual camera settings, no Slow motion...With that said Who cares....not a Deal breaker...I cannot notice it everyone who views photos and videos think I'm a professional now ...This technology was over 7K just 10 years ago....such a amazing journey in technology ... show more
