  • Dupe of ASUS capture card, works at 4K (only 30 fps) on Linux but with minor driver issues
Color: Black
I have a sneaking suspicion this capture card is a copy of the ASUS TUF Gaming one (ASIN B096PPYZXV) that goes for a $100 more, but nonetheless, I don't mind. This card does have UVC driver support, but there's a few minor bugs in the driver -- I'm on Ubuntu 21 for reference. ``` usb 2-4.4.4: UVC non compliance - GET_DEF(PROBE) not supported. Enabling workaround. uvcvideo 2-4.4.4:1.1: Unknown video format 30313050-0000-0010-8000-00aa00389b71 uvcvideo 2-4.4.4:1.1: Unknown video format e436eb7e-524f-11ce-9f53-0020af0ba770 usb 2-4.4.4: config 1 has an invalid interface number: 7 but max is 4 usb 2-4.4.4: config 1 has no interface number 4 ``` Other than that, it seems to work fine. • Quit on me in less than a year
Color: Red
It's important to have a good reliable source of power for best performance. Don't rely solely on the connection to pc via the usb 3 cable. if it doesn't get adequate power the audio will be out of sink and choppy. When setting it up in OBS, you may need to set it up twice. Once as a video source, and again as its own audio source to avoid any weird echos, but that couldve been unique to my setup situation. i was very happy with it for a short while. very adequate for my needs but I bought it in december and its now no longer connecting to my pc. It powers up, blinking lights. I tested a different usb port. the device powers up with just the USB 3 cable to pc, and when i just use the USB cable. I know that both are necessary, its worked fine up until this week. Under OBS, it either shows up in red, or doesn't show up at all. The video doesn't any longer show up on OBS canvass as a window for me to move around. I try to readd device and results are the same. Shortly before the device quit entirely the audio capture went out completely. I couldn't even hear the audio through my head phone port on the front neither. After some attempts at unplugging and plugging back in, OBS restart. PC reboot. the device disappeared completely, Now its a fancy tiny RGB bar on my desk. My option to reach customer support seems to no longer show up on my purchase page. So I'm hoping my review will get them to reach out to me like another customer who wrote a review. Rating would be higher if it hadn't quit on me on so soon. I have an OLD as heck elgato game capture HD from 7 years ago that still works, and it was plugged in constantly for years before I purchased this one. ... show more

  • Works beautifully
Color: Red
The capture card works beautifully, with a vey crisp image. In spite of a sticker warning that it gets very hot, it is barely warm when used with a video cam. Maybe gaming puts much more stress on it. Only about 1% of the capture cards on sale now capture in 4k. Most capture 4k to 1080p, and those are 5-10 times less expensive. What to watch: I had two similar capture cards to 4k 30, each of which worked for about a year, from a company which is no longer around. Such cards must do a lot of processing, and they warm up. A warning sign for failure is that the card takes several attempts to start, or occasionally starts at a lower resolution. The card is still usable afterwards, but not reliable as a communication tool. So make sure you push it hard while under return/warranty terms, and exchange it if any of the above occurs. I teach, give seminars, or collaborate from my home office. I wanted to do it well, especially since I felt privileged to be able to work during the pandemic. I invested about $3k for a Sony video cam, $1.5k for a tripod head, handle commands, a small 7in teleprompter with an ultra bright screen and a talent screen, and about $2k for sound , an EV R20 mic with a UA console. I pass the video through a USB hub with individual switches, instead of the post it sticker on the webcam. The setup fits under a 77in Sony OLED TV attached to the wall, which is the computer screen. The computer is a MacMini M1. ... show more

  • No non-sense, works as described.
Color: Black
This is a great no non-sense item. I needed it to view the output of my stereo receiver on my computer since it doesn't play nicely with my 16x10 monitors. It is complete over-kill for that job so I hooked it up to my Apple TV and it displayed everything it was doing perfectly. I played a couple rounds of racing and it recorded everything just perfect. Would happily recommend the item. The instruction manual could be improved, but it tells you enough to get it running in OBS and when I hooked it up to my Mac it worked immediately with the Photo Booth app. When I followed the directions in OBS it would not work at 4K resolution, but when I put it to 1080P resolution it worked just fine. Not sure if that's limited to my setup or not, but if you're wanting to use 4K I would verify that works for you as soon as you received the item. ... show more
