I love that this color did not make my hair so pitch black like most permanent hair dyes do. I have been using Clairol for many years even now in mt70+ I tried the copper not only was my scalp carrot but every towel I had to use I washed my hair and scalp 4 times in one day still my scalp was carrot Have used their teal with much less problems if its not for Halloween don't try it

It's a three out of 5 because user error as much as it's not all it's cracked up to be. I found this when just looking for something temporary since I wasn't ready to commit to such a drastic change. My hair is naturally medium to dark blonde and I purchased the espresso hoping to get a dark brown to black....at least for a couple days. Usually with perminents I have no issues going darker. This is NOT a perminent. I should have adhered my friends advice about dying my hair a darker color I was more comfortable with first, but like I said, I wasn't ready to commit. So instead of any form of brown I got a dingey greyish color instead. It's gross. I'll be happy when it fades. Don't expect miracles out of a product for $5.99. If you only want a slight "Glow Up" this is perfect. And even though it does live up to it's name, a quick Google search will tell you the box examples don't come close. While it DOES state you can add as you please for darker color keep in mind this is still a dye. There's still lots of breakage. ... show more

This is a fast and easy way to cover those pesky roots (mine happen to be gray) before your next permanent root touch up, whether from a box or salon. Just shampoo in, leave on for the recommended amount of time and rinse. It is not permanent, and will wear off in a week or so, depending on how often you shampoo afterwards. As a toner, I have used L’Oréal Gloss many times and then noticed this one by Clairol. Now my dilemma is which do I love the most? There are approximately 3 uses in the tube to try and decide. The Gloss does as advertised and my newly lightened (strawberry blonde) hair looks fabulous to me. So super easily to apply and smells great. I used this for my six year old her hair is blonde but more of a dirty blonde. All it did was darken her hair. The first 24 hours there was some blue hues that could be seen in the sunlight. Within 48 hours you couldn’t see anything at all.
