My previous ratchet belt from amazon lasted only 4 months. The leather was somewhat durable, but the belt clasp was so poorly made that it broke after a few months and made it a useless piece of leather. As you can imagine it was fun walking around without a belt with my pants hanging down for a week before this belt arrived. The belt clasp has a completely different design from my last one and I’m confident that it will last long after wearing it for a few weeks everyday. I ordered the size that would fit me best with a little trimming. I only had to trim off a bit of the belt with scissors, then I placed the trimmed end in the clasp and connected them with the spikes. The only potential problem I see is that the leather could wear down and disconnect from the clasp, but even then I could trim off a small amount and reconnect it to the clasp. I wanted to get the black belt with a silver clasp, but ended going with a black clasp and black belt just because that wasn’t available in my size. It has plastic teeth so you can adjust it perfectly to fit your waist instead of poking holes in it to get a perfect fit like most people have to do with a traditional belt. As someone who has worn many ratchet belts and found the biggest flaws in their design, I do think this will last long. The lever on most ratchet belts actually annoys me, I accidentally loosened my belt and had to tighten it again countless times. So it was a pleasant surprise to me that my belt doesn’t have a lever, you just lift up on the clasp to adjust the belt. I actually like it a lot more than levers. The one flaw I have found is that is squeaks a little if I have it in a certain position, but if I move the belt slightly it doesn’t squeak annoyingly when I walk. It was packaged so well for such a cheap belt, and it was so easy to figure out that I didn’t even need the instruction manual. My previous belt‘s clasp would actually create marks on the leather that diminished the appearance. So far this belt‘s clasp hasn’t made a mark on the leather. If this is your first time buying a ratchet belt, you should know that they are way quicker and way more adjustable than hole belts. As someone who has tried many different kinds of ratchet belts I highly recommend this one. It’s a 5/5 so far for the excellent packaging, good durability, and great looking design. That 5 star will change if the belt somehow breaks in less than a year, but I doubt anything will happen to this belt other than some minimal damage. ... show more

So this review is two-fold, 1st about the product and then 2nd about the seller. The Belt: I purchased this belt because I like how it appears to have a standard belt buckle even though it is a ratchet belt. Everything feels well made, though I have only had it for a week, so time will tell how long it holds it up. What sets this belt apart for most other ratchet belts is the release mechanism. Most will have a little release lever that is located on the top of the belt. This type of lever can get accidentally bumped from time to time, usually when leaning against something. When this happens your belt loosens us and sometimes, it is at an awkward time like a work meeting! This belt, however, requires you to lift the whole buckle to release the ratchet, which I highly doubt will ever happen accidentally. So all things considered, it is a great belt for a great price. The Seller (CHAOREN DESIGN STUDIO): It was a pleasure dealing with this team as they quickly helped resolve my issue. I ordered a belt and ended up not liking the belt buckle color (it looked silver onscreen but was a dark bronze) but the belt color itself was perfect. I then ordered a second belt and when it arrived, I liked the silver buckle, but did not like color of the belt as it was different. So to get what I wanted, I had to take the belt from one order and buckle from another order, and I was hoping to return the other belt & buckle that I din't like. I opened a chat with Amazon and, while they were very friendly and helpful, they said I couldn't mix and match and return for a refund. So then I reached out CHAOREN directly and they confirmed that Amazon could not receive a hybrid return, but since they valued my patronage, they refunded the cost of my second purchase, but let me keep both belts.     • Early Impression - Very Good
Color: 02 Burnt Umber/Cognac Size: 36" to 42" Waist Adjustable
I've had the belt just a few weeks and worn twice. Early impression is this is a great belt. I was a bit nervous cutting off the excess - worried that I'd cut too much and ruin the thing. Instructions are easy to follow. I love the ratcheting vs. having to find the right belt hole. This is the go-to belt when you're 'between belt holes' as many of us are from time to time. Perfect fit every time. As far as downsides, just a few minor things. The belt did initially smell like gasoline when coming out of the packaging but that faded quickly. The color of the belt is more of an old brown, and not quite the darker cognac color that appears in the product photo, so it doesn't match the shoes I would have paired with. Last is that its a little awkward in the men's room when you adjust your belt as the ratchet sound is louder than I though it would be. All in all minor gripes for an overall great product. Ordered Two of these belts as affordable alternatives to other ratchet belts. I have had (1) of the expensive originals, and these belts are as good if not better. My expensive original stopped grabbing on to the belt where the buckle attaches and often comes loose. These grip much better, with deeper daggers if you will. The buckle also works as expected, you lift the buckle to release vs a lever on the bottom of the buckle that you can never quite figure out which way it goes to release. This original design is much better. Belts look like quality leather, come in a basic box. Overall very pleased (see photos) ... show more

    • Not happy after several months
Color: 04 Gun Buckle W Tan Belt Size: 42" to 48" Waist Adjustable
The media could not be loaded. Not happy at all after several months. 1. The latch / alligator method of attaching the belt lasts about a month then starts letting loose. The only way to get it to stay is keep trimming the belt length. After awhile the belt will be too short to fit. 2. As you can see from the video the back material is this and begins failing. Love the idea. Will look for another design. These should last years longer than a regular belt. ... show more
