Was hesitant to buy this with all the mixed reviews, but took a chance. I definitely need a "marine grade" and "weather resistant" lock - I'm using this to secure a kayak to a storage rack which is located right next to a saltwater marina. I wanted to avoid a keyed lock because I don't want to carry around yet another key. Long story short, I guess I got lucky and received a good one! It works flawlessly. My only gripe is the numbers are tiny and hard to read but that's my old eyes at fault. It functions exactly as designed. When I first received it, before putting it into actual use, I reset the combination a couple dozen times to make sure I didn't get a dud (like some folks here seem to have gotten). But no problems here. Very happy with it so far. UPDATE: After about 2 yrs of use, this lock has seized and will not unlock. Full disclosure - the kayak rack is located maybe 50 yds from a saltwater waterway, so to be honest I’m not too surprised it has seized. It’s a rough environment. But I just wanted to pass this along. This lock will not last forever. ... show more

    • 99% perfect weatherproof lock but...
I’ve only had it for a few hours. Very easy to use. Super easy directions. Appears to be very weatherproof. Our only gripe is that the lock will not shut if you do not have the correct combo set. Everything else is about perfect.

    • Nice lock but has flaws.
The lock is biltwell. But it's a bit difficult to use most people don't realize you have to push on the side of it. However the worst part of it is, the little door on backside of lock is to set the new combination. People don't realize that and they flip that up causing the lock to change combinations and then they don't know the new combination number. It's worthless had to cut two of them off. I love this lock because it is really sturdy and there is a cover over the numbers dial. This lock is used on a deck box near the ocean and the last lock I had rusted and corroded so bad that I couldn't turn the numbers on the dial anymore. I am optimistic that the cover on this lock will keep it working for much longer. I did initially receive a defective lock. It worked fine when I put in my first combination but after a few weeks, I went to change the combination to something else and something in the lock mechanism caused it to "freeze". Luckily, I was still in the return window so I returned it and bought another one. . . optimistic that the "freezing" thing was just a fluke. ... show more

The lock is okay but I do find the cover to be hard to open at times. Also, since I sometimes leave it open for a worker to get in the yard I do not like that i cant close the lock unless the combo is entered and since you don't need a key to reset the combo the combo can be changed easily. Finally i bought a couple of these and i messed up when setting the combo on one and now the lock is unusable. ... show more

Easy lock to work, but I don't understand why the combination has to be set on the correct numbers to be able to lock the lock... I'm guessing a safety feature? Can't give a review on weathering yet. I just put it on my boat we'll see how long it lasts or if it corrodes
