First off its a lock that can be picked just like ANY other lock. The benifet of this was is no lost or forgotten keys, no edvidense of a lock (ie key) helps keeps others knowing about the storage locker. Just open turn the "knob" in the back with a flat tip screw driver change your combo write the combo in you cell phones contact and their you go. The most cumbersome lock ever. I bought it for my storage. I calculated that I could open a combination lock if I forgot my key. First, the tiny numbers are almost impossible for me to see in a dimly lit storage unit hallway. This may not be an issue for those with 20/20 vision. However, for the rest of us, you are forewarned. Next, the thumbwheels are very hard to use. Get the first one into position, and as you manipulate the next thumbwheel, you inadvertently move the first thumbwheel. I ended up squinting (with my glasses!) four inches away from the lock as I manipulated the thumbwheels with my fingernail. This lock is useless to me. I will return it if it is not too late. If it is, into the garbage it goes in favor of a useable lock. ... show more
