  • Quality
I liked the quality, heat but I wasn't to thrilled with how it pressed the tortilla. I did however loved how it cooked the tortilla!! I will continue to use it just for the cooking part especially how it gets hot in the kitchen with the stove on.

  • Not what I expected.
I first saw this in a TikTok video and I thought it looked very easy to make tortillas. It did not work like the way it is presented in the video. The dough did not seem to stay in as I pressed down to flatten it. It kept on sliding out. (It was a little amusing though, to see if fly out) I bought it for my 86 year old mother, to make it easier for her to spread and cook tortillas, but I was wrong! This machine just made her frustrated, so I am returning it. ... show more

  • Very loose holder on upper plate .
Just got my Brentwood 8 inch tortilla maker. I am using it to make roti. Very first thing noticed is the part on upper plate which we use to move it close and open is not secure. It is so loose it can come apart from that plate anytime. Also the black material part on the maker excluding non stick part seems tobe of very poor quality. One wonders how long it is going to last. It is good in terms of heating roti. I am going to give it a try one more time but because of its wiggly holder on upper plate its fate is very unsecure in my kitchen. update- I noticed that there is problem with alignment with two hot plates. They have big gap in between them so roti was very thick when you press and it will break towards large handle. No matter what I try roti was thick because hot plates are not alignment and upper holder was loose so steam will come out. I ended up returning it. I ordered another rotimaker . Brentwood 10 inch. This does not have wiggly holder. I gave it a try and it is very good in flattening roti and cooking them. But the large handle with with grip is little loose again on this piece i received. I want to give this rotimaker a try in long run but ievery piece I receive has some or other problem . Its is very frustrating. ... show more

  • GREAT TORTS AND ROTIS ... READ THIS
If your dough is slipping out every time, use more water. Dough needs to be very, very soft. I use half whole wheat and half AP or bread flour. I always usr about a 70% ratio. If Iuse 1 cup flour, than I use about 70% of a cup of water. And I make it vety, very warm water. Just use half of it at first, and slowly add the rest. Dough will be soft and a bit sticky. After you flatten the dough, you can pat a teeny bit of flour on before using the press. It took me 3 weeks and several videos to get it right. I also use 1/2 t baking powder, 1 t salt and 1 t sugar. And cayenne when I want spicy flavor. Hated this thing 3 weeks and now won't live without one. I have 2 brands and this recipe works with both. Keep trying. ... show more

  • Not that easy /... spits dough out the side
very hard to get the dough to stay in the press without it immediately kicking out the side of the press.
