    • Pricey, but the Best Electric Razor Ever

This is Braun’s top of the line electric shaver with all the accoutrements. One can buy a like, barebones model for $100 - $150 cheaper. I’d definitely consider that. The different packages are priced differently, but the shaver is the same. I’ve only used this shaver once on a 3-day beard. Prep the beard, washing the face with soap warm water. Dry the face. Shave. I haven’t tried the beard-prep attachment yet. Depending on usage, I will periodically clean the razor with the large, electrical device. Most of the time, cleaning the razor with just warm / hot water is all that’s needed. This is easily the best electric razor I’ve owned and used. Highly efficient - fewer passes, less time. No skin irritation whatsoever - a first. A definite BBS (baby bottom smooth) shave, on par with Gillette Mach 3 and Fusion razors, and double-edged (DE) razors (Henson + Astra blade). I have good experience with these alternative methods of shaving. The DE takes longer with oils and creams and occasional weepers; the Gillette is the fastest, with the same oils and creams; Braun, other than washing the face, is the simplest, and a close second in terms of efficiency/speed. Surprisingly, all three provide similar BBS shaves. I’ll retain and use all three methods. For 1 - 2 week travel, the Braun will be my main shaver, with Gillette as backup. As for the for daily shaves, the DE and the Braun will share the honors. The Braun head and blades are said to last up to two years - perhaps longer with intermittent use? As a retiree, I now usually shave every two days, sometimes up to four days. Time will tell how well this new Braun will hold up, but in my experience with other Brauns, I expect no issues. Value for money? My Henson Titanium cost $250, Simpson badger / synthetic brushes cost $100+, and creams / soaps, shave oils, alum bars are less costly, but still. Gillette blades are relatively costly, but last six to eight shaves on average. So when all is said and done, while the upfront cost of this Braun is hefty, it’s not outlandishly so. One can use cheap disposable multi blades, but the quality of the shave is noticeably inferior. In short, I’ve chosen my shaving methods. Now, my incremental cost is simply replacing blades, creams, and pre-shave oils, which are infrequent and less costly. Kudos to Braun for this elegant, highly efficient shaver! ... show more

I had used Braun for over 50 years. But the last two broke down very easily after a few years. So, because of that and the high cost of replacement, I opted for a Panasonic Arc 3 about 3 years ago. The shave was very good, but even with replacement head and cutters,3 years on, I was no longer impressed. So, last month I ordered an Arc 5 model. I tried it and it left me with sore skin and did not give me a comfortable or close shave. And it took too many passes to remove my stubble. And it didn't really do that very well. Numerous hairs were left untouched. Thus it was the subject of a return. Yesterday my new Braun arrived. Absolute chalk and cheese to the Arc 5. First shave this morning and, not only did it take less passes, but extremely comfortable and close shave. I really recommend this shaver to anyone who may have skin that cannot take the harshness of some shaver brands. More expensive than I wanted to shell out. But, absolutely the right choice. Only negative point, is that it did not come with a foil head protective cover. I also think the charging stand is to unsubstantiated to hold the shaver. It has a very narrow base, that could cause the shaver to topple over. That in turn could damage the foil head. So, I will charge it directly to a power outlet with the cable. ... show more

This product, what to say.. I did a lot of research before buying because I wanted something that wasn’t going to make my neck and jawline areas itch. I also wanted something that was sturdy enough to last and I mean the travel charging case was a plus. So far, I’ve been excited to shave every chance I get. This is coming from someone who started out with razors and then moved onto straight razors then tried out a $100 dollar electric razor and no matter what, I just itched. Granted the straight razor gave me a very close shave, the Braun Series 9+ Pro has been very successful in doing the same. This has all been dry shaving btw. I did find a YouTuber from the UK who tried dry shaving for the video and came back later leaving a comment that wet shaving was just as good, if not better. Really looking forward to try out a wet shave as well. I might come back to update. TL;DR: Shaver good, don’t stress thinking to much and just buy it. It cleans itself btw. First electric razer I've tried that works for me. Nice close shave, and it doesn't leave any patches. I can go 2 - 3 days between shaves & it works well. If I go past 3 days then I do need to trim the stubble down with a beard trimmer first. I like the trimmer on back side for side burns.

I tended to shave when I feel like it. My beard is pretty full, pretty thick, and grows pretty quickly. I would just use my side-burn trimmer like a razor to shave as close as it would and call it a week.... I recently had trouble with an ingrown hair, freaked me out and so was looking for something rugged and easy enough to shave regularly without the razor, water and stuff. Been using it for a while now and very happy with it. I have gone up to 4 days growth without an issue. It feels nice on the face and I have had no irritation from shaving dry regularly without water or shaving gel, which I dont plan to do. Battery life is excellent, many shaves. Easy to use, easy clean and care. Mostly just a brush and tap hair out, used cleaning base once so far which worked fine. It misses a few hairs around my neck, but I blame my neck. ... show more
