Just got this today and tried it out. I had a box of pages to shred and I just kept going because it was so fast and easy...and quiet. The motor didn't labor and it shredded some thick paper material.

Quiet, multi page shredder, simple operation / controls. Heavy and rolls easily on its wheels. It is "garaged" under my desk, easy to roll out to use. As a side issue, the instructions suggest oiling the chopper monthly, and although the instructions did not explain, we purchased oiling sheets for this purpose from Amazon. They are easy to run through the shredder like a regular heavy paper, and appears to do the job. ... show more

This is the most powerful, most expensive , most quiet shredder I have ever owned or used. It's ripping through old clutter like a hot knife through butter. The large bin fills quickly when shredding 20 plus sheets constantly. The instructions say no staples and no unopened junk mail. I know it ate a staple or two and a junk mail but you will find yourself caring about this machine because of its performance. I never had to use the oiling sheets before. I never heard of such a thing, but I'm using them. I'm positive this will be the last paper shredder I'll ever have to buy. The cutters are staying clear of paper unlike all the other shredders I've had. I spent a week debating the price. It's totally worth it. It's really taken the frustration out of decluttering documents with sensitive information and the never-ending junk from the mailman. ... show more

I have wanted a shredder this size for a while to shred a lot of old papers that I have accumulated. I’m working on a declutter project at my house. My small shredder just couldn’t handle the job. I finally got this one and I am very pleased. Started using it last week and it performs very well. It is also surprisingly quiet. I’m looking forward to getting rid of more clutter using this great shredder. Would highly recommend it. I also bought the oil because I know that it’s important to keep it lubricated.     • Pros and cons of the 24-sheet cross-cut shredder
Size: 24-Sheet Cross-Cut
PROS of the 24-sheet model (S3105): - several pages can be shredded without any strain or overheating - the motor is air-cooled with intake and exhaust ports in the back for longer running time - it is pretty quiet and the noise is not annoying - the basket is larger than in most low-cost shredders, but cross-cut paper takes more space in the basket than micro-cut paper - it looks better than many other shredders. CONS of the 24-sheet model (S3105): - it looks larger "in person" than in a photo; it will look too large in small spaces - it is very heavy; it is not something that you would want to move often - the motor is heavy (good), but this makes the shredder very top heavy; it could do quite a damage if it fell on a living thing or something of value - the feed rate is not high, but this can be compensated by stacking more pages of paper - there is no mechanism to adapt to various thickness of the stacked paper; for thinner stacks, there is a lot of movement of the paper being fed, because it has no support (this also contributes to the noise) - the cross-cut strips a are quite large; this means that the paper must be oriented in a specific way when feeding, so the characters in the text are separated during shredding - cross-cut paper strips take up more space in the basket vs. micro-cut strips. ... show more

We use this to shred cardboard for our compost piles. Quiet, works great. Only downside is it does not take super thick cardboard, but thats no big deal. Works on most of the cardboard we get.
