Description

Diesel exhaust fluid is one of the key elements of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) process used by most medium and heavy-duty engine builders to meet EPA 2010 regulations. Blue DEF is a non-toxic solution of 67.5 percent purified water and 32.5 percent ultra pure automotive grade urea. Blue DEF is not a fuel or fuel additive. Instead, when injected into the exhaust stream and passed over a catalyst, helps convert NOx into nitrogen gas and water vapour, two harmless and natural components of the air. is stable, colourless and odourless, and meets ISO Standards 22241 for purity and composition and is an American Petroleum Institute (API) certified diesel exhaust fluid. These are the highest quality and safety standards in place to ensure optimum SCR performance. Making sure you do not run out of in a SCR equipped truck is simple, watch the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) gauge, which is part of the diesel fuel gauge, for when it is time to refill. DEF is stored in a dedicated tank next to the fuel tank on the driver's side. The tanks range in size from 6 to 23 gallons depending on the truck's application. The DEF tank fill opening is designed to accommodate a DEF fill nozzle to ensure only DEF is put into the tank. A diesel fuel nozzle will not fit into the DEF tank opening.

Significantly overpriced through Amazon. Able to purchase same thing for almost half through local big box retailers. But, if you want one delivered to your doorstep this is hard to beat. Didn't leak and small included spout worked well. Not sure how forcing diesel owners to use this to reduce our carbon footprint compares to the fact that this horrible fluid arrives in a cardboard box, inside a plastic container with a plastic spout and plastic bag that the spout comes in... but hey what do I know about trying to save the planet. ... show more

I order this stuff online because I don't like interacting with weird people. I don't know if it's cheaper in stores or not, I don't really care. To not have to talk to someone at the gas station or auto parts store is worth it to me. Of all the synthesized cow piss on the market for trucks that require DEF, this seems to be the creme de la creme, squoze from only the finest pure bred Holstein heifers and mixed with mountain spring water. I have used this brand for 5 years and while I have no idea if it actually does anything other than make my truck's exhaust smell horrible, it hasn't ever created any mechanical issues with the truck. I ordered the two pack and received two, 2.5 gallon jugs, as advertised. The spout that is included sure makes refilling the tank easy, and then I throw that away with the jug that the DEF comes in, which is inside of a cardboard box, inside the Amazon box. Somehow DEF makes the environment better, I don't get it. But I'm apparently not as smart as the folks at the EPA. I mean, who figured out that a mixture of water and urine extract, injected into an exhaust and then processed through and SCT and/or DPF would save the Earth from some unburnt fuel?
