Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. We just got a new truck a few months ago and on our first camping trip with it we quickly learned how much of a pain it is to feel like you have to move things like child carrier backpacks etc into the cab of the truck to secure it if you stop somewhere for lunch. We had a three week road trip to Utah and Canada planned and I knew we’d want a good tonneau cover to secure our cargo in the bed of the truck and keep it dry. After a lot of research on tonneau covers I settled on getting this one and can honestly say I couldn’t be much happier. While on our 5,000 mile round trip we drove through wind and torrential rain at times and everything in the bed stayed dry. Even after raining for two days straight in Canada. I did use the included drain tubes and had them drain out the holes drilled in the plastic plugs they tell you to drill through in the instructions. With getting up to 85 mph on some roads and with crosswinds I never had any problems with the cover rattling in the wind like I had heard one reviewer talk about. I think it may have been a fluke or possibly a different method of installation that may have given them the problem. Having the BackFlip Tonneau cover was a game changer for us and my wife and I were both so glad I had insisted on getting it before our trip. It was pretty easy to install on my 2020 Ford F150 and I had it installed within about an hour and a half including the time it took to find tools etc. It looks really clean and sleek and really serves its purpose quite well. Gave a 4 for easy to install - only because some fiddling around is required to get the right fit and an extra pair of hands is virtually essential at a couple of points, otherwise it's pretty simple. Also when opened up all the way against the cab you have to put the rubber bumpers in the middle because the 2020 F150 cab rear is curved. Placing them at the towards the outer edges as shown in the manual will not work. Gave a 4 for water resistance - looks like it seals well but it has not rained here since I installed it. However, what are the drain tubes for? And some seals for where they go through the holes drilled in the bed plugs would be a good idea. Seems like water would get in when driving in rain. I may use some black silicone. (Tip - remove the plugs and drill them in a vice or clamped to a bench - and a hole saw works very well instead of one of those expensive cone bits they show. Don't try regular, Forstner, or flat blade bits!!) Delivery was quick. Packaging was great. Install took about an hour without rushing. Looks good and performs well. Should be very durable. It's easy to use and secure with the tailgate closed and locked. Love that it does not stick up above the bed sides. Very solid. No rattles or vibrations. Overall a great product. The price could be lower. It seems a lot for the amount of materials and manufacturing involved, but it's fairly competitive with similar higher end products of the same quality. Average gas mileage is creeping up again with only 500 miles on the new truck so far. (No, I didn't get it from the Ford dealer - they wanted almost 40% more - way over list price! And I'm not paying interest on it.) ... show more

Easy to install by yourself. Fit I excellent if you take your time, pay attention to detail and strive for a professional look. It took me about forty-five minutes to install by myself. Only common hand tools needed to install. When the order was received everything was inventoried for correct count and damage. One piece of hardware was missing and I immediately notified the manufacturer. I spoke with a representative in order to have the product corrected. The missing part was determined and I was assured the part would be sent out the next day. Well two months later I am still waiting! This cover was registered for warranty purposes the day I received it. I do like the look of the cover and the protection it offers. One thing I would recommend has to do with the opening of the panels. The way it operates you have to pull the release on both sides of a panel in order to open it. This is a challenge on the middle panel and the panel that is closest to the cab. In order to open these two panels is either get in the bed and grasp both cables (right and left side) to disengage the locks or have a person on the opposite side of the truck to assist you. Overall this is a very good and well made product. I have been on the interstate and rough roads, the unit stays in place, no movement. I would highly recommend this product to someone looking for a well made quality product. Bak-Flip I would have given you five stars if you would have been responsive to assuring I received the missing parts. ... show more
