This is, by far, the best seed starting mix I have found and at a good price. I start a small pot every week for the purpose of growing a continual supply of fresh greens for my indoor only cats. The soil easily soaks up water, unlike other starters that seem to be water resistant. I water the soil down, throw the seeds on top, and cover with a little more starter mix. Water down and 48 hours later they break soil. The starter mix also soaks water up, from the bottom, better than any other mix I have tried. I water from the bottom so as to not disturb the seeds. This starting mix was very rough. Instead of being able to fill my trays and seed them, I spent a half an hour removing large bark pieces, sticks and mud clods, which were so hard I couldn't break them apart between my thumb and finger. I was very disappointed and could not recommend this as a seed starting mix. ... show more

My mistake, pieces of wood.i will use it to late now need to start seeds. Maybe sifting the mix will help seperate the wood chips. I thought about returning and it did seem as I could return for exchange for another product, but changed my mind and will deal with it.

    • Lots of big mulch type things
Alot of big mulch type bark in this mix. It interfered with my small seeds. Not the best as far as I'm concerned.
