I was looking for a baby gate that is compatible with 48” stairs, is less than 30 inch in height (because of railings), doesn’t have a threshold and can auto close. This was the only model that fit all of my criteria. I had to return various other models that were pressure mounted and compared to them, this one fits nice and sturdy. One thing I learnt while looking into pressure mounted systems is that they require some drilling as well in order to securely install the gates. Compared to them, the hardware in this model was sturdier and easy to install. If you’re looking to install baby gates on stairs, I strongly recommend going for the one that uses hardware to mount and doesn’t have threshold. Cons: 1. The installation instructions are vague and could use more detail. There were many things I had to learn as I started assembling and could have saved time if they gave some helpful tips on how to ensure the gates are level, the hardware is mounted straight etc. 2. The auto close and smooth operation of gates entirely depends on the installation. I had to readjust things until I was able to open and close the gates easily. ... show more

Overall this is a sturdy gate that works well. My main issue is that is has ripped out of the wall twice now. DO NOT USE the wall anchors it comes with, and also, likely DO NOT use the screws unless you are screwing directly into wood, because they are less than an inch long and will not reach your studs. A really dumb oversight for what is otherwise a really solid gate. The installation instructions were so so and had poor diagrams/details for the parts. The gate itself is sturdy and I like that it opens both ways, and that it stays open if fully opened, but gently moves to a closed position if left open otherwise. You have to lift the gate a bit to open it while pressing down on the handle, which is not super intuitive and is not mentioned in the instructions. Installation includes a template, but you still need to be pretty precise to get everything lined up correctly. ... show more

Love this gate. Very easy to install and no step over to trip on. Using it to keep my little dog from going down the steps. Very sturdy and opens very easy and latches tight. Would definitely recommend. A little pricy but well worth it. Shipping was lighting fast. Same day.

The Babelio 34" gate was purchased to replace a similar gate to keep the grandkids and dogs from getting loose. The previous gate has a bottom brace and a complicated latch. The gate opening was small and made it difficult to pass large items through. The Babelio 34" gate addressed all of my concerns. The gate latches and unlatches effortlessly, and it opens full doorway width with no bottom brace to trip on. It stays open when needed and closes automatically. Pros, it opens wide. That’s it. Pretty sure after a month the wife will want something else. If she lasts that long. Cons, It is a horribly made product, the gate is ok, durability looks to be be quite good. Main problem is it takes clamps to secure the gate pieces together. If your opening is in the right spot the clamps are too wide. I narrowed them and it works so far. BUT the average person won’t have the tools to narrow them. I’m very handy, so I could fix it, 90% of the people buying this won’t have the tools or skills. I have 5 other gates in our house (pets), that are 1000% better. Won’t EVER buy again. For the pain to install and the price being so high. Would never buy again. And keep in mind this is a “normal” door width it was put on. If it wasn’t for the dumb clamps I’d give it 4 stars. Mainly because it’s almost a 2 hand gate. None of our other ones are, but I’d take that trade off for the wide opening of the gate, if it didn’t take so long to modify the parts. ... show more

Restrict my lab pup from carpeted rooms. Handsome clean design against my stucco walls. NO bottom rail to clean or step over. Maintains a full open position when desired except if it overlaps door frame moulding. We purposely installed it slightly higher than recommended to clear the floor moulding; lab can only get head under! Self closing when in partial open position. Lightweight but strong; well made. Easy to open quietly with one hand. Fit our 46” wide opening. Perfect gate for us. ... show more
