The Astro 78100 Goliath Ball Joint XL C-Frame Press boasts three times the throat space and features a notched foot that allows for the pressing out of ball joints without the removal of the top mount grease fittings. The large ball joint Press in this unit is for maximum clearance and for the effortless use of the tall and stacked adapters. Needed a larger ball joint press for a few vehicles that the standard size just wasn't cutting. This thing is just as hefty as my older smaller units and then some. It's made of metal, and you use it for ball joints, u joints, pinching fingers, and anything else you need to exert a few tons of pressure on, that you can fit into your shop press to do the job. Yes it will probably damage the shipping box and hurt the driver carrying it to you since it weighs so much, but it's a heavy duty tool, you know that. Yes Snap on, Mac, and others make great tools, but I'm not in that range yet, so this does the job at a much more attractive price. I have not needed customer service so can't comment on that, but would not hesitate to buy this brand, from this seller again. ... show more

I needed the XL frame for pressing in lower control arm bushings on a 2012 ram 1500 4x4 and it worked great. the smaller one that came in another kit I bought would not work.

Astro Pneumatic Tool 78100 Goliath Ball Joint XL C-Frame Press is huge and sturdy so far. Durability is yet to be seen, how long it will last, so I won't rate that. Worked better on my original U-joints on my 1997 C1500 with 320k on the clock. Didn't work so well for the lower ball joints, Shop press worked way better and faster for ball joints. Still a keeper. ... show more

Finally got the bushings swapped out on the 86 B250 I'm working on. Already own the standard 4wd Astro kit but the press just wasn't even close to the size I needed for the lower control arm. This works like a champ and even installed the new lower bushing with only a 1/2" hand ratchet. What a difference having the correct size tool makes. Worth every penny. ... show more

Bigger and heavier than the otc press in this similar size. A beast of a press, and stupid heavy duty!! A really great XL press clamp!! Astro makes some great stuff!!

    • Great for my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7L 4x4, Dana 60 solid axle.
This is a big clamp! I abused it pretty good getting my VERY rusted-in ball joints out. I used the Astro universal extension kit along with this and, along with about a 22mm deep socket for pressing out the top ball joints, it had everything I needed (you just have to get creative and think mechanically about what's best to use). Between using my 20v DeWalt impact wrench to banging on it with a small sledge, it took everything I threw at it. I did make sure to use PB on the threads regularly. It can be a bit unwieldy, but that's hard to help with such a big device. You would probably bend the ears on the knuckle before you break this thing! It's a good idea to have a sturdy 1/2" breaker bar, cheater bar, and socket wrench for doing the top as you can't reach well with the impact. After cleaning out the rust with a small wire wheel and using PB on the knuckle, the new Moogs went right in. I'll be using it to do some u-joints soon, I suspect it's going to make that job a LOT easier than before. I'll update on how the press did with them when I'm done. ... show more

I needed this tool to swap out the upper ball joints on my 2008 Tundra. The cups required at both ends are quite long and they would not fit in a regular sized press. This one did the trick and I was back on the road after being delayed for day with bad joints stuck in the control arm. It's very sturdy, works great and I like the smaller sized jack screw it comes with as an alternative. ... show more
