  • It's a hard arcade machine to review! 3.8
So, this was my first Arcade1up machine; I've owned many MyArcade machines. And, I knew coming in that this didn't have a USB power option :( and it's a 16-bit (Genesis version?)...these were the negatives. But...I didn't find the joystick to be as bad as the YouTube reviews (I use Baraka [MK2] and Liu Kang [MK2 & MK3] mostly). The overall cabinet is very nice and sturdy feeling for a 1:6! While the screen would have been nicer at a larger scale it works for the overall presentation of a 16-bit ROM/1:6 cabinet. I do have to say the sound could be much better, as Liu Kang sounds like a turkey when doing a bicycle kick (even on headphones through the jack WTF)!? It does have blood and fatalities unlike the ClassicArcade Mortal Kombat 1 that came out a few years ago. I paid $80 for it and I'm still comparing it to the MyArcade Street Fighter II which I paid $50...that didn't have two games MK2 & MK3 let alone Super version; but, it was an arcade ROM with a widescreen and great controls/large arcade buttons. For an apartment dweller, this is probably the best option especially if you already have MyArcade, NeoGeo mini, Sega City Astro etc., although it will sit higher like a MyArcade atop a riser. Honestly, I'd never buy the Pac-Man/Galaga version of this; but, I might be interested in a CollectorCade for both TMNT games in 1 or Street Fighter & Final Fight in 1! ... show more

  • Overall a poor experience
The little cabinet is very nice and feels great, but this device has way too many negatives to recommend to anyone. 1) Read the box carefully, it does say "16 bit" experience, so you are NOT getting the arcade versions of these games. 2) For those not overly familiar with the games Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is less a standalone game and more a revision of MK3. Calling it "another game" is both kind of dishonest and negatively affects the value of this machine. No MK1 or MK Trilogy instead? 3) Battery power only, no ac or USB power. This is especially disappointing. -And for those of us who are thinking "I'll just mod it”- 4) The controls are stiff and cheap feeling, the buttons and joystick feel more like a knock off $20 fake than a $100 Arcade1up product. Shockingly poor quality. This was my first Arcade1up product that I purchased and I can't understand how they thought this was worth $100. Seriously what were they thinking? ... show more

  • Low Expectations Nearly Met, Almost #Playable
After finding that I liked the Pac-Man CollectorCade more than I anticipated, I thought a $60 sale for Mortal Kombat would be worth it. I was wrong. I knew going in that it is a 16 but version of the game and the buttons and screen are not very high quality, but I marched forward anyway…and was not impressed in any way. I mean it kind of Lola nice enough that I feel like I got my money’s worth and it’s not worth the effort to return it, but…it’s pretty much garbage. I definitely do not recommend this—anyone reading this review should immediately remove this item from their cart and instead consider a quarter scale cabinet from Numskull or a 1:6 “play” scale device from New Wave Toys instead. ... show more
