I gave this computer a 5 star rating because cosmetically it looked brand new and it passed all the tests in TechTool Pro. Having said that, I have one issue and two caveats about the machine — if you have never purchased an older model used computer. First, the model number was not disclosed by the seller. The one I received is an A1286. That means it has USB 2 ports instead of USB 3. Mid 2012 MacBooks manufactured after January 2013 have USB 3, this one was made in Sept 2012. I almost returned the unit because all my accessories are USB 3 (like external drives) and there is a huge speed difference. I feel the seller should have disclosed that it had USB 2 ports or USB 3 as this is a crucial feature. Second, this is not a ding to the seller but you should be aware that when you buy an older laptop that it might still have the original battery in it. This one did — 10 years old, 75% useability. You just need to know that you may be buying a new battery sooner rather than later. Third, and I cannot decide if this is a ding or not because you will need to buy memory anyway, but the computer came with 4gb as advertised. However it did not come with Lion OS as advertised but instead with High Sierra which requires a MINIMUM 6gb to load. You can boot it one time and do the setup but it will not boot again after setup till you add more memory. Seriously, you should have 16gb so you will most likely be buying memory anyway but it would be nice to be able to check the machine out before you start spending money upgrading it. Fortunately for me, I had a 4gb chip laying around that let me check it out. I would recommend to the seller that they raise the price $25 and put in one 8gb chip instead of two 2gb chips. That would make for much happier customers. Overall I am mostly pleased with the computer — except the USB ports — and would recommend this to people looking for a very good, low cost laptop option. ... show more

I should have done more research it was more way older than I wanted so it was slooooooow and not compatible with some things I needed so I sent it back and got a newer one. Was my fault for not looking into it more. However when I received it was just flopping around in a box nothing to cushion it or keep it safe or anything but it did come like they said had some knicks and dents in it. ... show more

    • Product does not meet the "Excellent" Renewed specifications.
The product that I received does not have a new or slightly used battery that meets or exceeds 80% capacity... When looking on the system information it shows that the battery has gone through 1238 cycle counts, which is 238 more cycles than Apple rates their batteries for. Likewise, the current battery discharges extremely quickly and doesn't hold a charge for longer than about an hour or so. Additionally, the unit I received does have cosmetic dents, dings, and scratches which are visible from more than 12 inches away. My intention when purchasing this unit was to upgrade the memory and put an SSD into it, so I will just buy a new battery and install it myself. It is just disappointing that it does not meet the criteria listed. If I had wanted to purchased a "used" unit that required me to effectively refurbish the system myself I could have gone to ebay or facebook marketplace and gotten a better deal. ... show more

I gave 5 stars solely due to the fact of how new the MacBook looked. Unfortunately, it doesn't run Adobe because its a 2012 model and it doesn't say that on the description so its gotta go back :(.
