I never had a toaster that offered a count-down. It seemed a bit gimmicky, but it actually adds some functionality. You need not wonder how much longer it will take before the toast is done. One thing you might want to know is that you can adjust the settings on the fly. If you think it needs more time to toast while its getting near the end, you just twist the dial for more time (or less, for that matter, if you realized you used too high a setting.) This may save you the hassle of cancelling or starting over if you think your toast is going to be underdone. The defrost setting is helpful. The bagel setting is also novel, in case you only want one side of your bagel toasted instead of both. The slots are wide enough for bagels too. The warming rack on top is also a great feature assuming your item can sit comfortably on the two retractable wire frame pieces that emerge from the top around the slots. So, how does it toast? So far, great. It's been unseasonable cold even for winter where I live so ambient temps have gone down in our house, and so its a pretty light toast for a bagel set on 4. I expect a 4 (of 6) will make darker toast when the toaster isn't starting with bread that may be a bit colder than average. Finally, the lift up feature works well in this toaster so chances are you won't find yourself having to go fishing inside your toaster. ... show more

I have only used this a couple of times and then wondered about the inner wall where the heating elements are attached and became very concerned that they were asbestos. I reached out and just found out that they are not!! They are made of mica! Now back to the toaster. Most, if not every toaster I have used up until this point, seems to dry out your bread. I did not find that to be so with this. I even used it on the frozen setting (since my bread was frozen) and it came out great! Toasted well, but not dried out. The slots are nice and wide, the digital panel works fine, you can stop it if you feel you will over-toast, or for whatever reason you want to stop toasting, and, you get the added convenience of the warming rack, which also works great for what it is. It is exactly as advertised, which by the way, is really rare and super refreshing. It's more than worth it's price. Definitely recommended!! ... show more

Great toaster for toasting thick items like homemade bread and bagels. It's a compact design, so it doesn't take up a lot of counter space, and it is attractive with the stainless steel finish and the blue operation lights. When you set the toasting level (1-6), it starts a countdown timer which indicates how long it has remaining to toast. This is probably my favorite function. Here are my overall thoughts: Pros: 1) Attractive stainless steel with blue lights 2) Compact size fits on the counter 3) Timer readout indicates remaining toasting time 4) Pull out crumb drawer for easy cleaning 5) Warming rack on top (good for pastries or items that might get messy) 6) Adjustable toasting timer on the fly (can increase or decrease remaining toasting time) Cons: 1) Not very deep trays should you have large/oversized bread (works well for standard bread and bagels) All in all, a very good toaster that I'm happy to have and look forward to using for years. ... show more

I have had my current toaster for at least 10 years and I've noticed it no longer seems to toast items evenly. I ordered this Anfilank (odd name) toaster for two reasons: the extra wide slots and the smaller footprint for my kitchen counter. For the first several uses -- hamburger buns, English muffins, and bread -- toasting was even with just the level of browning I expected. The dial for setting the level is numbered, but there is only a small "dimple" to mark the setting. It is hard to see, especially in low light. A white dot would be better. I like the digital readout that displays time remaining, which is easy to see. The display only appears when the toaster is toasting. The width of the slots is very good, though they are not very deep. Tall bread may not toast entirely, though I have not tried that yet, nor have I tried bagels. There is a separate setting for handling bagels, a nice touch. The user manual that came with the toaster is well-written and helpful. So far I am happy to replace my old toaster with this one. ... show more
