While designed to fit the My Passport Essential external hard drive, I purchased it for protecting my Bluetooth headset and USB-C charge cable and this is the ONLY one small enough and thin to take up as little space as possible in my laptop backpack, which itself is the ONLY one small enough to be classified as a personal item by the most restrictive airlines and still fit an XPS 15 9520 laptop. Believe me I've scoured the Internet. to find both. Those who gave it a 1-star review because it was too small to fit their external hard drive need to learn how to read. The "Amazon Basics SMALL Hard Shell Carrying Case for My Passport Essential External Hard Drive", as it clearly states in the description, was designed to fit that purposely-designed-to-be-undersized drive for travelers, and 2TBs smaller. On the SAME PAGE, for the same price, they sell on just like it for the more standard size external hard drives, "Amazon Basics External Hard Drive Portable Carrying Case ". Moreover, In BOTH cases, they list the INTERNAL dimensions for the case. The INSIDE dimensions of the case are clearly stated to be 4.72" x 3.66" x 0.63". The Bluetooth headset is 0.61" high in the ear piece area. You can see by the pic by how much of the space is taken up by the little Bluetooth headset. There is still a little room left over for the USB-C charging cord, ear rubbers, USB-C to USB-A adapter, thin plastic case that contains SD slot adapter to read various size SDs, micro-SIMs, and an eject tool for SIM cards, kept safe all in one place. The construction: The outside is covered with ballistic polyester and the hard sides that feel like hard-side luggage. You can make it oil-can in if you squeeze it hard, but it pops right back out. The zipper works fine and slightly more drag on the sharp corners, but that is expected. It it a very strong zipper which you will learn because those white sewed-in tags you see in the pictures are themselves made of tough material and pull out very hard even one at a time. I actually bought this to create a small kit for my purse. The rigid case protects the contents from getting crushed (unlike the baggie I was using before). A little bigger than I initially wanted, but everything does fit and I was able to put the case in my purse.
