I bought this kit to replace a cracked threaded fitting on my RV fresh water tank. These fitting are normally installed using spin welding. The adapter tool required to install these fittings using spin welding are over $200 and will probably only be used once by the consumer. For $40 you get everything in this plastic welding kit to complete this easy repair yourself. I removed my tank from the RV so I could plastic weld horizontally. No issues with the installation. This kit is excellent for welding plastic. I got it for fixing my Sundolphin boat. I works well. After a little practice I was able to patch a large hole in the bottom. The one at the other store is almost identical, but it has a weak tip that bent and broke. This one has a well designed thick tip that is able to stand up to use. And if it does break, there is a hex nut at the base so you can remove it and install the replacement that is included in the box. Amazing. ***Trash that will break immediately, reviews must be fake.. You have been warned not to buy*** The arm of the gun literally melted and went limp the first time we tried using it. This is not a plastic welder. This is a heating element wrapped in the cheapest PLASTIC in all of China. Connected to (with wires way under the required gauge) a micro sized iron made of, you guessed it…. The cheapest STEEL in all of China. 0 Stars. Buy if you enjoy watching pieces of equipment self destruct, or if you like to be terribly disappointed thinking your going to finally finish a project, only to have the main tool need kill itself. The iron itself strikes me as pretty cheaply made, but it works. I have used it several times and it’s worked well. I would be sure to keep the hot iron end elevated while you are using it so it doesn’t overheat the plastic handle. I also wouldn’t press too hard on it, but if you let the iron do the work you shouldn’t have to. ... show more
