The Recital White features 5 realistic built-in voices: Acoustic Piano, Electric Piano, Organ, Synth, and Bass. Customize the voices by combining any two at once in Layer Mode for a full, rich tone. They can also be assigned to only the left or right hands in Split Mode. You can even add adjustable Reverb and Chorus to further tailor your sound. With powerful 20-watt built-in speakers and a 128-note maximum note polyphony, Recital White delivers ultra- realistic sound and a great playing experience. Powerful Educational Features The Alesis Recital White has an incredibly useful feature called "Lesson Mode." This feature divides the 88 keys into two zones with the same pitch and voice. This enables both the student and teacher to easily watch each other and play together without having to take turns or reach over one another. Recital White also features a ¼” (6.35mm) headphone output which mutes the internal speakers for convenient, quiet private practice. I really love this piano. I took lessons throughout high school and into college, playing Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin etc. After a few years I decided to pick it back up and settled on this electric piano. Again I really like it, the semi-weight of the keys does allow for dynamics, which without spending $500 on a weighted-key electric piano, this does the job very well. It’s not performance specialized, but how can you do composers justice on an electric piano?! I also play chords, using it for worship in my apartment. Perfect. I must apologize - to the manufacturer and to those who read my first review. In that review, I heavily criticized the lack of volume when playing several keys at either end of the keyboard. The apparent fault was not actually a fault at all. I simply was not striking the keys hard enough. It seems to me that the keys at either end require a stronger strike than the other keys but, with that being accomplished, the volume is quite comparable with all others. The edit to this review: Just so you know……this electric piano is, in my opinion, a very good selection as a beginner’s model. It’s not “perfect” in all respects, and for the money it is well worth it. However there is one fault that seems to be present with this model. When the organ voice is selected, the volume of the lower keys is very much lower than that of the higher keys. So much so that when lower and higher keys are played at the same time, the lower keys are virtually unheard. At first I thought I had received a defective unit and I returned it. (Marie at customer service was extremely pleasant to speak with and went beyond my expectations in the help she provided). The second unit arrived and it also carries the same fault as the first. All other voices operated well. My personal desire is to learn how to play piano so this fault, while irritating, is of little consequence in that respect. ... show more

I needed a keyboard to plunk out the melodies of a dozen songs that I had to learn the alto part for a choir that I'm in. It works fine for that. It was a bonus that it's the same length and width of my sofa table.
