My mother's older dyson vacuum would always shut off when using on carpet so you would have to release trigger and re-pull to start. I took the floor attachment apart to find so much dog hair had been compressed at the bearing that it had actually damaged the thin rubber coated oil seal for the bearing and was being compressed to the point that it was creating friction on the bearing most likely causing the vacuum to shut due to internal safeties. This is the bearing that replaces that original in the floor attachment but with a sealed upgrade and not the rubber coated side seals. Carefully press out the drive gear after removing the belt from motor and then the retaining ring. Make sure you keep the retainer secured while removing as it could gobanywhere and is very small. After reassembled she hasn't had any issues since and it just works like it was new again. I bought this 2 pack as this is the same bearing in the other floor pieces but I don't know on the newest stuff yet. ... show more
