I am converting some cases I have to storage cases for tools and equipment. I need foam for that, and these pick apart foam inserts seemed like a good item to try. As usual, they came in a vacuum-sealed bag. When you’re shipping items with little weight to them, the space they occupy becomes a premium. Not only is shipping based on weight, but also volume. After expanding for 48 hours, the sheets fully expanded on their own. As for being polyurethane foam, yes, they are. There are different densities of polyurethane. It will work quite well for lots of tools. If you have really heavy tools, then you may need a denser foam. It’s not “pick-a-part” foam. It’s solid foam that is easily cut to fit your needs. Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? Yes, these are good foam inserts, and, yes, you may have to wait for them to expand. But, in the end, they are as good as any others out there. ... show more

These come compressed to about 1/2" thickness, so don't be surprised. It takes a full 48 hours for them to expand to their fullest. I was anticipating that the foam would be slightly more rigid than this. It is actually quite squishy. The first thing I used it for was to create a cushion for a fan that tends to hum loudly on whatever surface it is set on. I was able to cut the shape (a circle) quite easily on my band saw (a small fine-toothed hand saw would have worked as well), but cutting out the "cup" in the middle was not as easy because it was so squishy. I eventually got it to work, but it was pretty rough looking. A hot knife would do the trick, but I don't have one...yet. The rest of this is going to get used in my shop drawers for hand tools. I use foam for making inserts for my tools. Sadly, this is not the right foam for that. First clue was it comes vacuum sealed/packed. Like foam mattresses. It does fluff up pretty fast and it has a nice thickness to it. If you want soft foam, you will probably like this. Since I am making inserts for tools, this will not be the best. Problem is, if you look at the product pictures, they make you "think" it's easy to cut out layers, which is NOT true. I find this to be deceptive. They give it away in the video, which I did not watch before I ordered this. The video shows, you have to cut the pieces out, all the way through, then they take the cut out and slice that thinner and put in into the cut out they made. That is not how several pictures on this page show. My fault for trusting them. Don't reward products that are not honest, so would not recommend this one. I used these foam inserts to make some custom equipment cases. The foam comes vacuum sealed and will expand once you open the package. It has a slight odor that dissipates quickly after busting them out of the package. I had no issues cutting the foam with a standard hobby knife. I liked how the sheets were cut to size. They were almost the perfect fit for a drawer but trimmed them down and they fit great. They are easy to carve out the shapes you need to keep your drawers organized. The sheets are like vacuum sealed so when you let them free, it does take some time to fluff back up. I have a couple hard sided storage cases that I need to reconfigure for some special tools and equipment so I ordered these 3 pieces of polyurethane packing foam from FAMOPLAY. First off, I have to say that this is one of the few times I’ve received foam that was vacuum packed for shipping that actually regained its original size completely… and fairly quickly.
