    • I Am Giving This Five Stars, As A Makeup Artist, Let Me Tell You Why..
WARNING- IN DEPTH REVIEW. This is an in depth review to help anyone wanting to make an informed buying decision to see if this is a set worth investing in. If you prefer a brief summary, see section titled THE BOTTOM LINE ---------------------------- I have been an artist most of my life. I not only work in the medium of makeup, but I also work with fine arts and other arts that require various brushes to accomplish what it is that I need to do. This kit at first glance looks like a silly investment. However, I don't quite see it that way. Let me tell you why. WHAT DO YOU WANT OUT OF A BRUSH SET? First of all, let's determine what you are looking for in a brush set. --Are you a beginner makeup dabbler who wants to follow the most recent You Tube makeup artist? -- Are you a young person wanting to experiment with makeup from time to time? -- Are you someone who wants a cheap set of brushes for travel that perform well but won't make you cry if lost? --Are you someone who wants to work on sets or on people where the brushes can easily be taken? --Do you want a professional level set of brushes to use forever? --Are you short on cash and you really want to get the most brushes for your money, buying expensive ones later? Once you ask yourself these questions, we can move on to why I think this set deserves five stars. WHAT IS THIS SET LIKE? First of all, this set comes in a pink case that ties shut. It is easy to wipe off and keep clean. The brushes all have their individual pocket that they store in and the case rolls up keeping them from being smashed or bent. There is a flap inside to keep the bristles protected so they are not splayed or rub off on other brushes during storage. There are many brushes in here for a variety of uses. WHAT KIND OF BRUSHES ARE IN THIS? There is a list of brushes in this listing for them, but let me explain something to you. You can do a number of things with just about any brush, if you get creative. For precise application of a brush that is not quite as full or pointed as you like, you can put your finger tips right at the end of the brush to make a fine or thin line and it will work great. These brushes have a great spring to them. That means that you can apply cream with some pressure and the brush will not moosh out and leave you with a messy application. There are soft brushes for the face as well as fan brushes. Let's take a closer look. EYE BRUSHES I will tell you right off the bat, I have more brushes that most people could look at in a lifetime. I have high end professional brushes from all sorts of companies. I have medium value special edition brushes. I have beautiful brushes, I have ELF brushes. There are brushes in every single line that work fantastically for me and others that really are not a great brush. This set comes with a variety of brushes for the eyes. There are filbert shaped brushes which have excellent spring. These excel with cream shadows but also work well to pack on powder shadows and blend the edges. The flat brushes are great for lining, small corner application of shadow or liner. There is a pencil brush which is rather large, but excellent for blending the corners. That also has fantastic spring which means it won't splay out when you put pressure on it. There is a smudge foam top brush which is fantastic for blending out a smokey eye. There is a foam applicator like you find in cheaper drugstore shadow. Believe it or not, there are expensive shadows out there which only apply best with this type of applicator. There is a slanted brush as well as a long liner brush for liquid liner. All are decent quality and if you work with them, you can get excellent results with MOST shadows. LIPS I suggest you experiment with a few brushes for lips and find what works for you. One of the small filbert shaped brushes is excellent for lipstick application You can also use the edges for outlining if you practice. It is not uncommon for me to find a lip brush that works better for thick cream shadows, or to find a cream shadow brush that works better for lips. With this kit, you don't have to be afraid to experiment FACE There are a variety of face brushes here. There are two fans- one for small brushing away of powder when finished, or application of very metallic highlighters or bright blushes. It is amazing if you apply lightly with a fan brush how you can get a beautiful glow with a blush or highlighter that is often too intense with every other method of application. There is a huge fan brush which is excellent for the chest and neck area as well as areas of the face. Again, experiment. You can get a large fan to do a lot of things if you experiment and use the edges in different ways. Don't be afraid to squeeze the edges between your fingers for a sharper edge of need be. There are fluffy brushes for powders and blushes which are okay, but there are also two cream brushes (straight usually curved top) which work great for some foundations and cream blushes or highlighters. BROW BRUSHES There are two brow/lash brushes. There is a spoolie and a comb/brush combo both which can be used for brows and lashes if you are careful. SYNTHETIC VS NATURAL This set is synthetic. It will stain eventually and you can wash them more easily. They will shed a bit when washing, but that is normal for a hair or two here and there. If half the brush comes out, you got a dud. Synthetic can be good for powder, but often excels with cream products. In this case I found that it works well with both except for the crease blending that I like to do with a full teardrop brush which is natural fiber. Natural fibers tend to be a bit nicer for fluffy blending as well as picking up powder products well. This set is missing a nice fluffy crease brush. Other than that this set has enough to work with that you can use it for just about any makeup application and do a good job. IS THIS SET WORTH IT? I know that some are probably wondering why I am rating this five stars. Let me explain. Although I have access to just about any brush you can imagine, there are some brushes from say, ELF that I find I really love to use often. The cheapest you can find one of those is $1 each and sometimes as much s $3. There are $24 brushes in this set PLUS A REALLY NICE CASE. For $10 you just can not come close to having this many decent brushes and a case. That is about 42 cents per brush and case. You can not beat this value for what it is. I mean let's be real, guys. Many people will pay $10 for a case like this alone with NO brushes. WHO IS THIS RECOMMENDED FOR? I recommend this for: -Someone who travels and wants a decent performing case that won't be big deal if lost on planes or in travel -Those who have to work on sites with makeup where brushes walk easily (people take them) -Anyone just starting out who wants to follow You Tube makeup enthusiasts -Someone who is learning to do makeup and wants to learn new techniques -Interim brush set to have to find out what you like and don't like before investing in expensive brushes -Anyone new to makeup who wants to have fun. -Someone who loves to do plays or costuming makeup- again where brushes will walk CLEANING Do NOT soak these brushes. Quickly put a little pool of water and gentle soap in your hand and swirl them to clean them, rinsing quickly under LUKEWARM NOT HOT water. Hot water will loosen the bristles in most brushes. Soaking will also cause problems. I suggest using a gentle cleanser which will keep brushes soft, but not interfere with your skin at all. DO NOT USE SODIUM LAURYL SUFLATE CLEANSERS. They will strip the bristles and glues quickly. Gentle castile is a good choice. THE BOTTOM LINE For this price, this set is a great deal. The brushes seem repetitive in some cases, but you can use them for various purposes from lips to powders to creams and mark them yourself. It is a wonderful case that keeps them nice and the quality is decent for the price. Clean them carefully and they can serve you well until you invest in more expensive brushes. MY RATING FIVE STARS. For this price and purposes listed, it really is a good deal. Mine arrived in great shape and work well for many applications as outlined in my review. There is also a gold version of these which look a little thicker for a few more dollars by this company if you prefer something a little more plush, but this is a great beginner or spare set for decent performance. ... show more

I was persuaded by the makeup artist’s glowing review. Don’t be. It is not a 5 star product. I also went on the pictures. Don’t! There are so many contractions on this product. The pictures show so many quality brushes that are so full and fluffy. They are about half as full as the pictures. The description on one of the pictures says animal hair and another says synthetic. One picture says and shows 24 brushes and one says 18. You do ‘not’ get the fluffy blush brush, and they have a strong chemical smell. If you equate quantity with value, then you will be happy. They are an okay quality, nothing special, but don’t be duped by the pictures or the reviews like I was or you will be disappointed. Certainly not premium professional as advertised. I bought these brushes as a gift for my little sister who is obsessed with make-up, and she absolutely loves them! I chose these brushes over other brushes, because there is such a variety in size and use of each one (literally one for anything you can think of), and also because the pouch they come in, makes it easier to pack up and take with you. My sister has also figured out that the pouch can be hung up and used as a storage case for the brushes when they aren't in use, keeping them separated and not touching one another like most make-up brush holders do. Most pouches similar to this one also don't keep the brushes in it, if you hang it up. However, this one has different sized pouches, for different size brushes, allowing the brushes to stay in the pouch when you hang it. Overall, very good buy! Especially for the price! ... show more

Not only were there 4 brushes missing (only 20 brushes instead of 24), but the odor that wafts off of these brushes is one of the most disgustingly chemical, lung choking smells that's hot my olfactory workings. The scent literally gave me an instant headache; within minutes of opening the package I had a migraine stemming from my nose to the back of my head, and I don't really get headaches(except from very strong smells like synthetic perfume). The quality is horrible. The color of the white and gold set is nothing like the photos. It is the cheapest looking metal I have ever laid eyes on. There are glue drip marks and weird dirty looking smears on half of the brushes, and some seem to have loose brush threads/bristles hanging here and there. I would be fearful to use these brushes anywhere near my skin! Who knows what is giving them the gasoline diesel scent, and I question whether the material used for their creation is safe on skin. I requested a return, no chance I'd even give these things a try. Horrible in every way, even the case is ugly and very poorly made. I can safely and honestly say these are the cheapest, crappiest make up brushes I've ever had the displeasure of ordering. ... show more

These brushes changed the way my make-up looks on my over-60 skin! I use either liquid or cream concealer, and these brushes picked up just the bare right amount of product and blended it on in one sweep, preventing caking and saving me time. I am super-impressed. I normally use a different brand of brushes but these are all I will use from now on. As the saying goes, the right tool makes all the difference. I do travel every other week, but the generous amount of brushes in this kit are more than I need to travel with, so while it can fit in a suitcase nicely I still need to select a few and pack them in a smaller carrier. ... show more

I won’t need to buy another brush for a long time now. This kit is perfect because you’ll get all the brushes you need for your face, it’s so soft, it feels very nice on my face, so I like the qualities of those. I don’t think you can find something with this price with the same quality.
